Talking 2006 LSJ Cobalt SS/SC w/ 88000 miles

Up for sale is my 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged.
88000 miles, no major issues, lightly modded
$6000 OBO no trades
Adam Voss, joker42369@yahoo.com, 630-901-8677

Cliff notes:

PROS: New front brakes and suspension, nothing is in immediate need of replacement. Car runs and drives great.

CONS: Needs a/c to be recharged Exhaust leak at the header. New header purchased to remedy this issue.

MODS: Mostly stock besides GM stage 2 upgrade, intake, ported/polished head, and GMPP clutch

The story of this car:
I bought the car in May 2011 with 34000 miles on the clock, bone stock. I am the second owner.

See Carfax below for what it’s worth, I have mostly done my own work to this car…

This car will have a unique-ish story to it, bear with me. Nothing bad really, just figured it would be good for any buyer to know this car has been ‘molested’. It has been well taken care of, I absolutely adored the car. It was my dream car. I treated it great and spent more money on it than I ever could have imagined lol. But anyway, the condition/mods I am selling it with now does not totally reflect how it spent most of it’s life. That’s all.

Purchased 2011 w/ 34000 miles, all recalls had been performed.
Shortly after buying had the catalytic converter replaced (they break often) by GM dealer.
Started modding. Got the mod bug hard.
Did all the cooling mods
Wheel hop mounts, header, intake, led to stage 2 by around 45000 miles. (15psi)
Tinted windows, different headlights/taillights, lots of little things…
Clutch started going so had it professionally done around 50000 miles with GMPP components
Lowered it an inch, replaced most suspension components
Swapped seats
Full exhaust, methanol injection
GMPP pedals, stereo system done
Probably swapped seats again
Umm lets see… starting winter of 2013 it’s seen no snow.
I put it in the garage and spent the winter of 2013 with the engine/trans out.
Replaced the head with a ported/polished head from LSJION (best in the business) with valvesprings and zzp cams. Ported the manifold and supercharger, tiny pulley, ATI damper. Swapped to a G85/LSD transmission, lots of other goodies went on the car.
Got professionally tuned (before all this it was on an OTTP tune) by Al McClure, best LSJ tuner in the Midwest. And it made 300whp.
Drove it around for the spring/summer, it was a blast, never gave me any issues.
In the fall it randomly snapped an axle. Not knowing it was actually the spline of the axle that stripped, the car wouldn’t move and I thought the clutch broke. So it spent the winter of 2014 in my garage and we removed the trans again. The trans and clutch actually checked out just fine that’s when I found out that the axle was the problem (huge facepalm moment there) so we put it back together except with a fresh GMPP clutch, fluids, new intermediate shaft, and GMPP axles, all new mounts too.
Got it back on the street and all was well for a week until I went over a bump on the highway and the car shut off, never to start again. (WTF)
Spent like a month trying to figure out what it was… bad ground seemed to have tripped the system and shut the car off. It had fuel, spark, airflow… I found a leak in the manifold so I replaced it with a brand new one. Took it to GM and they finally discovered that the ground short simply fried the PCM. Replaced that and she was good to go in like August lol. At that point in time I had purchased a TVS and return fuel system. Put that all on and got it retuned by Al, and it made 380WHP @ 7500RPM and 20PSI. This engine is STRONG. Car performed wonderfully with no issues.
Really all issues that I’ve ever had with the car (**** breaking, electrical gremlins, exhaust leaks) were all simply my fault for touching it in the first place. Otherwise this car is innocent!
So here we are in 2015. It was on the TVS setup for a total of ~4 months, 20PSI is the most the car has ever seen. In the winter I decided it was time to move on, my project has been completed and it’s time to start saving money for a house finally, and simply a ‘nicer’, more comfy (and family friendly) car.
In December of 2015 I started the big partout and got rid of absolutely everything I could. I purchased most of the OEM parts from a local guy who took it all off of his nearly new cobalt years back, including the M62 supercharger, throttle body, exhaust, etc. And a GM stage 1 tune.
Got it back on the road about a month ago, and I am still working out a few ‘kinks’ getting it ready to sell, as to be expected – it was mostly all apart again this winter.

More detail on current Condition/Mods

K&N Typhoon intake – stock intake included with sale
M62 Supercharger with 3.1” pulley, all painted to look nice. Low miles on the blower
Stock header/downpipe with all new gaskets. Catback doesn’t even show signs of rust.
New front brakes and front struts, almost new MOOG swaybar endlinks.
Moog swaybar bushings, and tierods.
All other suspension is stock, stock ride height.
Limited slip transmission – estimated 40,000 miles on it.
GMPP clutch, new flywheel and throw out bearing – estimated 6000 miles on the setup.
Oem axles
Black powdercoated LSJ wheels in kinda rough condition (scratches/curbrash)
Great condition blizzak winter tires
42# Injectors, red painted fuel rail (just for looks)
New coolant tank (for looks) – this one doesn’t have the level sensor in it, so the dash warns ‘low coolant’ sometimes, but it’s false and there’s no coolant issues. Just hit the dic button and the warning goes away.
New intake manifold, all cooling components are stock configuration and in great shape, no leaks at all, on headaches. New supercharger cooling pump 6000 miles ago.
Black leather seats all around in pretty good shape, no years, SS badges are nice and white.
New shift boot, shift knob in great condition.
Interior is in great condition, all grey plastics painted flat black, no carpet stains, no tears, no smells, no smoking. ‘SS’ steering wheel badge. ‘SS’ badge on dash replaced with ‘supercharged’ badge.
Ported head remains, with 80# performance autowerks valvesprings and my stock cams. It is a great piece, the exhaust side is the side that had most of the work done, helps significantly increase the car’s power and actually lowers boost which is a good thing. The valvesprings are also good for the car as they allow it to rev higher safer. The car could handle 8000 rpms no issues, the limiter is set at 7200 (which is safe for stock valvesprings)
New fuel pump 1000 miles ago. All other fueling is stock. I’m getting 20+ MPG city per my calculations.
New battery recently.
New 2009 style headlights just installed, new bulbs, new fog light bulbs.
New coolant all around, fresh oil change, new trans fluid 6000 miles ago. All fluids are good, again no leaks.
All appearance in stock except tinted windows, supercharger badge, LNF front grille, painted bowtie and the rest is debadged. Red ceramic painted calipers all around. Red wheel lugs, black wheel lugs included with purchase. Spoiler end caps are black since I lost one somehow and had to replace with a red one, so I wrapped them in black vinyl lol.
Paint condition: excellent. Car has been handwashed for most of it’s life, and meticulously kept up with. Regular waxings, and was professionally polished last year. Always scrubbed inside the wheel wells, and cleaned the doorjams. I took lots of pride in this car and took it to many shows. I’ve gotten many compliments for how clean it is. It’s a gorgeous car with miniscule imperfections – no dents (significant anyway), one scrape on the drivers door, only a few hood chips, a scuff on the front bumper, some ‘low’ scrapes on the front lip. There are no signs of body rust and hardly any chassis rust, as the car only spent about 7 years enduring the winters, and was garage kept every day of it’s life. Regular undercarriage washes during the winters it was out.
Under the hood the same level of detail applies, all parts the generally oxidize and look bad are painted gunmetal gray. Fuel rail anodized red. New coolant res as noted. The head and block are clean and do not show signs of leaks. I kept up with maintenance under the hood and it shows for a car of it’s 10 year age.
Rockford fosgate speakers all around, sounds great.

Current issues:
No A/C. All components are installed, should just need to be recharged. I had the system off since I was running a big heat exchanger for a while.
Sometimes takes a few tries to start, sometimes starts right up.
One ear that holds the subwoofer on is broken, trying to fix, otherwise the sub is held in partially bolted, partially held in by a strap (its fine lol)
Small exhaust leak, purchased new header that will either be installed or come with the car. New flex section will be included in sale as well,

Miles: 88,000 miles and climbing. I LOVE to drive this car still, it is a total blast, I would still suspect it makes around 250-260 WHP. ~14-15 Psi. All cylinders hold pressure. It is a strong block and engine with no leaks.
My asking price: 6000 OBO. No trades, serious inquiries only. Test drives welcome. Will travel if needed.

My car is back up for sale!

Anyone who wanted it the first run take a look now, guess the guy just wanted to flip it. Beware he is not the second owner for 6 years. That was me. He is the third owner for like a week. But sounds like he fixed the ac at least.
