2.2 L61 Engine: Intake Mod for 2.2L Cobalts with pictures!!
Mine was cash money paid for, not positive equity on a trade.
And if you financed it youre paying more than $11,900
I saw a dealer advertising that price as well. I got mine for 12,100. And that was hard negatiation.
Hey BLKTRAX did you notice a difference with that hose hooked up? I guess the air would be quite a bit colder like that.
Also remember to add a high flow filter to polish this job off. You can hear the sucking from behind the glove compartment. I love it, gf hates it, so its a win win situation.

I like fun debates like this..
Anywho... Other than sound I'm not gonna say I feel a diffrence. but you can definatly hear it. I hope youre suggesting the hifloww filter to others, if you didnt see the GMPP intake kit i already have.
Sean
anyone figure out how to get the damn thing out yet? I'm to the point of using my sawz all, but would rather do it right. lol
EDIT: just noticed the second page, good how to Blktrax, I'll try it that way.

I cut it out NS06G5, if you have a soldering iron, it cuts through the plastic like a warm knife through butter.
I can't find a damn k&N stock filter anywhere around me. Kind of a **** off lol

I did mine today just like Blktrax. The only difference I've noticed so far is that it quietened it down a bit. I still have the stock intake and filter on mine, but I'm gonna get a high flow filter later. Any drop in filters out there better than K&N? I don't know how much of a difference it'll be in performance, but I'm gonna find out tomorrow. Going to Ozzfest!!!
I'll post my mileage when I get back tomorrow night.

Umm no its not, sorry. All it is a muffler to reduce intake noise and help remove water (vapor = fog) from the intake air before it reaches the filter.
In the GM service manual and on the parts catalog its listed as "Air Cleaner Inlet Duct"
A carbon diffuser is for return fuel systems to help reurn fuel vapor back to the tank instead of releasing them to the atmosphere, and since we do not have return fuel systems on these cars, we do not have a carbon canister like on the Cavailers and other older cars.
Definition:
Activated carbon canister:
An automotive filter in which activated carbon has been placed so that gas tank fuel vapors, which have accumulated when the vehicle is not running, are trapped in the filter. When the engine is running, hot air is forced into the filter and push out the vapors into the engine. In this way, pollution is reduced and conservation of the fuel is maintained. Also called activated charcoal trap or charcoal canister.
ok i guess was wrong, but to be honest this was my buddy Chris who helped me take it out, he started calling it that and i guess it just sounded rite lol. sorry guys, blktrax is god and im leaving to go bitch at Chris because he thinks he knows everything about everything.

Its fine if you leave it, I've driven it like that for about 3 months till I got the wild hair to run the pipe. I can't prove it does anything, but I like the sound now.
It does run smoother with the pipe, but it gets very humid around here in the mornings and after driving for about an hour, I checked the air filter and noticed it was getting a lil moisture, but not anything to worry too much about. I'm going to find a way to reposition the pipe so it can sill get a good bit of cold air, but not the moisture. Any suggestions?

Moisture is going to happen regardless, think of the RK Sport ram air hood, and cars like a Ram air Trans Am and such, all of those have to deal with humidity, its not something easily eliminated nor something detrimental.

All you can do it position it to directly feed off outside air, making somewhat of a Ram Air effect.
Moaisute is going to happen regarless, think of the RK Sport ram air hood, and cars like a Ram air Trans Am and such, all of those have to deal with humidity, its not something easily eliminated nor something detrimental.
