Chevrolet Cobalt Turbo Kit

Hey guys!

I've been doing some research on the 2.2L Ecotec Cobalts recently, and we're planning on releasing a Turbo Kit for it. However, I wanted to see if there would be much interest in this.

Stage 1: $1799.99
Stage 2: $2199.99 (Intercooled)
Stage 3: $2699.99 (Intercooled with Fuel Modifications)

If you'd like to see pictures of the kits we make for the Cavaliers, be sure to stop by our site:

Let me know if this is something you guys might be interested in and I'll see what we can get going.

Thanks!

sure, once you tell me how much hp i'll gain. and you are talking the full set-up, not just a turbo by itself, right? i think there are quite a few of us who are interrested in a turbo. just slide us that bit of info. Thanks.

Thanks for the interest It looks like we should have this available within about a week.

To answer your question, this is a complete kit, not just the turbo itself. The gains are anywhere from 80-90 horsepower with a setup of 8-9 psi on the Stage 3. That would put you at around 230 horsepower.

The kit includes all of the following:

Garrett T3 Turbo w/internal wastegate
Manifold
Intercooler
Greddy Type S Blow Off Valve
Charge Pipes (w/custom welds for blow off valve)
High Flow Fuel Pump
Fuel Lines
Oil Feed Kit
Oil Return Kit
Mass Air Flow Sensor Adapter Plate
Vacuum Lines
Manifold Gasket
T3 Gasket
Silicone Boots & Clamps
Bolts, Nuts, Washers, & Necessary Hardware

Thanks, and let me know if you have any further questions!

I'm very interesting in a turbo kit....and I agree with xXx, if you produre it and throw up some dyno numbers you can bet that 2.2 owners will come calling. Put some testamonies up of cavy owners who have your system, if you want, I think it could only help. Especially for the people who didn't have a cavy before they got a Cobalt...

Thanks It's good to hear people would be interested.

This is still in production and not available for sale for a few weeks! We plan on getting new pictures with the proper manifold, manifold gasket, and MAF sensor adapter pictured.

If I can get one sale from this, I could probably fund for someone to do some dyno runs if they were serious abuot doing it.

Thanks!

Awesome! We were actually looking for someone that had an SS and could help us out! I made a post about that awhile back. Do you happen to have AIM? We could talk on there. We're trying to work on some custom fiberglass items for the Cobalt SS, but it's hard to do without the car...and I think the dealership is already getting tired of seeing me!

Let me know. Thanks.

if the SS dynos above 200, wouldnt the hp be 280-290whp after the kit?
and how is stage 3 only runnin 9 psi? seems a little low for being stage 3
and this kit would probably push the limits of stock internals, any recommended upgrades?
what size T3 does it run?

He said it's for the 2.2L kit though. Wouldnt it not work on an SS? Also, unless your twin charging the SS you have to remember it's not going to dyno at 200hp w/o the supercharger in it.

Yeah, this kit is for the 2.2L Ecotec ONLY. It is NOT for the SS Supercharged.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

ok. im still new to the turbo-talk. so what does PSI stand for? And what size T3?

So, how much HP does the stage 1 give you? I'm a fan of loud blow-off valves, does this sound nice on the Cavaliers or does it sound like those silent turbos than come standard on some cars? Kinda oblivious to this stuff, still interrested in stage 1. the rest is too expensive for a guy about to start college

Yeah, I'm working on doing all of the "Add to Cart" features. Won't be for a little bit down the road though...

xXx - PSI stands for Pounds per Square Inch. PSI is basically the amount of pressure that your turbo is running. Most turbos come standard with a 5 PSI setting, which is about a 50 horsepower gain. The Stage 1 Kit is meant to be run at around 4 or 5 psi, so about 40-50 horsepower. Also, the BOV is VERY loud. It's a Greddy Type S, which is one of the loudest Blow Off Valves on the market. This is a T3 60 Trim by the way.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. Thanks!

Would it be possible to work out a deal to purchase the stage 1 setup with the stage 3 fuel upgrades? My reasoning is the intercooler, I might want to purchase a bigger one, that's all

Sure, we can do that for you If you're serious about doing it, I can sell you the Stage 1 Kit with the FMU, High Flow Fuel Pump, and fuel lines for $2250 plus Shipping, so about $2300 Shipped.

Let me know if you'd be interested in doing this:

Thanks!

im sorry, but it may be that im 'middle-class' and work very hard for my money, but $2250 for that set-up (a gain of 40-50 hp) seems a little.. .expensive. seems like it gets harder and harder to have a cool car. ****.

I know...

Turbo Kits are pretty expensive. Our prices are actually pretty cheap. If you're looking for a lot of power for a good price, I'd go with the Stage 3 for $2699. I realize that's a lot of money, but that's the kit that will give you the 100 horsepower gain.

Thanks

Agreed. It also seems that all these young kids are getting their parents to buy them super expensive nice cars. I hate that more than anything.

$2700 is not bad at all for that entire setup. Ive seen some kits with similar gains run for almost $4000. I would love to have a turbo kit on my 2.2L, but I purchased my car under the SmartBuy and I doubt I will keep my Cobalt after the 4 year term.

Im only 18, but I have a pretty good paying job for my age, and I purchased the Cobalt myself. I love the car, but kinda wish I woulda bought an SS, or went with the Neon SRT-4. I got the base model thinking there would be alot of cool parts for it, the block size on the engine was bigger than the SS, so I could possibly boost more horses out of it, but mostly my Cobalt was going to be for looks, because lets face it, I'm not going to own it forever, and in a few years, I'll get an Evolution or an Impreza WRX. I wanted the turbo so I could say "hey, my car runs with Srt-4s", but between paying rent, paying car notes, paying insurence (being 18, Allstate KILLS me), paying for all the other nitpicking **** (girlfriends) , aftermarket companys have to understand that almost $3000 for 100 HP boost (which would put me at 245hp) is still laughable

I understand I bought a Cobalt, but why doesnt Chevrolet understand that the main reason most of us bought a Cobalt is because we're not rich, and we live on a budget. No affence to the guy who is selling this kit, I'm sure that you will have people who will buy this, and I praise you man for actually making stuff for the 'balt, but the prices for that **** is steep and right now it seems like Cobalt owners are on the losing end.

Well, keep in mind that though it's steep in price to us, it's still within reason in comparison to other markets as stated above. If you want a great car it's not going to come to you at a cheap price. It's also not going to happen over night. I know I'll be building a pretty decent car, but I def. don't expect it to happen tomorrow. I'll be suprised if it happens within the next year being that I'm military and will probly drive it MUCH less than most here as it is.

Just gotta save your money, get what you can and go with it. No one said you had to have the most insane car around, and no one else is driving the car but you, do what makes you happy. Besides, even if everything did come to you cheap, either everyone would have it and you'd get tired of it that much faster, or it would be so easily achieveable that it wouldn't mean much anyway.
