i was drivin down the road about 30 minutes ago when this truck come sup outta nowhere and starts slowing down once he runs out in front of me. i seen it had an svt logo on the back but the truck was black and it was dark as well, i couldn't see all of the badges. i thought the only svt truck they made was a lightning, and i thought those things were supposed to be fast as **** with over 350hp IIRC.. it's not as fast as i thought originally.

i caught up with the guy, hit third, at about 80 we both took off and right off the bat i started inching away from him and had about 5+ cars on him when i shut down at around 130-135.

i really don't know if it was a lightning or if it was a misbadged truck, whatever it was it sounded mean as hell and i won


if anyone can chime in that knows if ford makes any other svt truck other than the lightning? i don't know anything about ford pickups.

 

lightning trucks are like 12 second cars! they have like 500 hp , mabe he was a normal s150 with badging i dunno

ps i raced an automatic (lightning) from a stop and he was gone im talkign busssssssss lengths!

 

I ran across one of these SVT trucks last week too. It wasn't a Lightning either. Sounded real good. The guy kinda cut me off in traffic. Once the traffic was clear, I heard him get on it in first and chirped second gear pretty good. (automatic) I was in my 05 Yukon Denali I wasn't overly impressed because my 6.0L AWD was able to catch up to him. When we caught up to him he look real suprised and quickly slowed down and turned off. I was like that wasn't really even fun. I'm giving up at least 1000 pounds to that single cab 2wd pick up. (I was in an AWD SUV with 2 passengers) Granted I'm pushing 400+ hp so if that SVT truck was just a cat back 4.6L in a rebadged F150 sorry but they don't have a chance vs the Cobalt SS or even my heavy 6.0L Denali.

The highest hp out put of any stock svt lighting was 390hp I had to wait forever for my boss to buy 1 for a delivery truck........and the best stock 1/4 mile was 13.5@110,but with mods they are beasts.......they have the same 4.6l dohc s/c engine as the cobra...

 

Not sure if the Harley Davidson F150 has SVT badges or not, but it sure sounds mean and the badges do look similar.

It might have been that truck.

And all the HP in the world won't help a Pick-up trucks brick like aerodynamics above 110MPH.....then again, the SS S/C's wing doesn't help much either.

 

All Lightnings are automatics, sad I know. It definatly was not a lightning cause trust me you know when it is a lightning. Lightnings have the loudest stock supercharger I have ever heard. I know this because I raced one in my SRT-4 and we stayed even till 130 I started pullin on him.

My bro has stage 2 with all types of goodies good for 340 whp and i know hed beat a lightning
easy, but my 2 friends have stage 1's and i can pull on them form a 40 till 120 (then i let off before they end up catching up )

 

its a 5.4l SOHC motor

the only fast trucks ford made were the SVT lightnings and the 02-03 harley f150's

both of which have the same supercharged 5.4l SOHC powerplant

 

380-390HP, and 4670 LBS does not a 13.0 vehicle make...

Trouble hitting 13.0, and the SVT does it with less HP and 500 more LBS, yeah right.

Yes a 5.4L SOHC 2 valve Triton V8. The ratings were from 360hp for the first year to
Horsepower 380 hp @ 4,750 rpm
Torque 450 lb.-ft. @ 3,250 rpm

the last years. Not a 13.0 Truck but a mid 13 stock.

 

they are underrated at 380-390hp

 

not all SVT lightnings are supercharged
the N/A ones are pretty slow
they only had 240hp, and did 0-60 in 7.6 seconds

 

My friend has a Lightning with these mods

- Predator Flash Programmer
- Borla Muffler & tips

He ran a 13.6 with a 2.3 60ft. This can burn out forever, it has well over 500ft.lbs of tq.

 

I'm stock and we raced from a slow role. And if you notice earlier in the thread someone posted that lightnings are capable of 13.5, and SRT-4's (when properly driven) are capable of a 13.6...if we had raced from a stop I probably would not have been able to get him.

 

no way in hell you raced a svt lightning. that truck would have owned you bad.

 

Let me clear some things up about the Lightning:

1.) There are only single cab lightnings All the way from '93-'04
2.) Lightning has a 5.4L supercharged, 390hp V8..not 4.6L
3.) The Harley Davidson F-150 does have a supercharger, and is double cab, but IS NOT AN SVT PRODUCT. It has 345hp. Until now, though, cuz now it's a big ass diesel truck.
4. Lightnings are low 14, high 13 sec trucks stock, but have a large aftermarket, so they can be animals very easily.
5.) The '93-'95 lightnings were N/A 5.8L V8's with 240hp
6.) The '99-'00's got he 5.4L with 360hp
7.) The '01-'04's have 390hp.
