Cobalt ss beating a LS (turbo'd) unlikely? Finally proven
I just recently finished a stage one turbo setup (@ 8psi) on my cobalt LS 2.2 ltr. My friend owns a cobalt ss supercharged. So we raced them both 5 times and each time the race went down the same way. The ss supercharge pulled out at the start but my LS turbocharge blew by it at the end. The race was a little over a 1/4 mile long. We also switched and I raced with his ss supercharged and he beat me in my LS turbocharged. So I guess the only time the SS would be faster is in a 50 foot race Can't wait to upgrade to the next stage!

Yeah, i want to see a video. And if so, do a little bit of modding to a SS S/C and see what happens. I'm pretty sure the SS will pull on the LS then. The 2.0L is built stronger when the 2.2L. I am interested in how much boost the 2.2L can handle before stuff starts breaking.

I'm glad to see the 2.2L getting some more power to it though
As much as I like the sound of the supercharger, if it were a turbo on the 2.0L we would be seeing 13's already.

Don't know what to say
Well I don't intend on upgrading my car anymore because too much more power and I will have to waste lots of money and completely rebuild my engine. The thing is that you can buy a regular base 2.2 and for under $3000 you can not only run with but run away from an SS until your governer kicks in lol (have to get that taken care of). And it gets to the point where even the ss can only run soo much boast before the internals need to be upgraded. I purchased the LS because I thought the SS was a waste of money performance wise. You can only do so much with a supercharger on a 4 cyl. Keyword displacement the 2.2 has more. I would love to see someone turbo a 2.4 VVT that would be sick!

I'm the kind of guy who wants top of the line, and only will change a few things. I'm not big into taking an ok car and making it sweet. Probably because i work 3 jobs for this car and go to college, so i don't have any free time to work on the car

This guy is a troll, even if he's a cobalt owner. He has some sort of ego trip from this supposedly only $1900 turbo he tossed in his car( which must be a POS if that's all it costed him). He posted this in the 2.2 forum as well. He's fishing for compliments, yet slamming 2.0 owners.

Actually I had a t3/t4e turbo 04 cavalier, and it ran great!
Fellow jbody.org member Ryne Hoover, recently ran a 12.83 @110mph on drag radials. This was in a 04 cavalier base model.
Stock EcoTec 2.2, transmission, axles, ignition, ecu...stock everything. Only mods were Hahn Stage2 turbo kit, 3inch exhaust. The fuel setup is only 32lb. injectors, cartech adjustable fmu, and inline fuel pump.
So the 2.2 is very capable. GM tested it to 283whp before the rods snapped and that was on nitrous. Supposedly if tuned well, boost is less stress and Ryan has proven it can handle 15psi (300whp+) EASY!

Im sure the 2.2L and 2.4L are very capable.... ecotec is a damn good motor ! Only thing im sitting here wondering is if a $1900 turbo setup at 8psi would walk an SS/SC... I just dont think so.... Im sure its pretty sweet though... I like turbos

*EDIT* Oh ya... stock CVs too... Ive already heard a couple people with SS/SC CVs popping.... I dont know if they are any beefier then a 2.2 Coby or Cavy but if they are that could be scary...

im not saying that this didnt happen, just doesnt sound likely, but if it is true 2 thumbs up to the 2.2L dont worry fellow 2.0L owners i doubt many of us will stay stock..... meaning itll take more than a turbo to take us

so r u saying the ss/sc isnt that great a car for tuning cuz it seems like u cant do much with them i mean i kno its still early in production but can we mod the ss to push high horses and torque?
