Ban Election/Politics Talk?
...I think we should ban it!
All it does is cause arguments that get locked, can't we just not talk about it here?

Another forum I was on had a special sub forum that was unmoderated. There was a warning that that particular section of the forum was unmoderated because of the lets just say explosive nature of the topic at hand.

The internet breeds an environment of uncivil behavior on every topic, and with an already touchy subject it is just no good.
I got banned from my jeep website because they disagreed in the school I chose and told them so. This place is a million times better than that. But when we get into election talk everyone becomes mean and it just turns into name calling because the poster of the original topic wanted everyone to agree with them and then other people start doing things regarding stats. what is one what isn't... etc.

I used to be a mod on overclock.net -- there were so many fights at one point in time, we banned political/religious discussion and directed all members to join those specific type of forums. I think it worked out for the best. We had to clean so many threads and shell out so many infractions.. People fight and literally kill each other over these topics.. This is a car enthusiast forum, keep the focus where it needs to be.

All they do is cause flaming.
I value everyone's opinion, but when everyone is so hard headed that they won't even try to listen to others opinions. It just makes everything difficult and keeps these great forums from being a friendly place to be.
I voted ban 'em

Ive seen this done at other car forums. The last one was a local forum, and the banning of political talk completely ruined that bored. People couldnt express their opinion. It went from a 250+ member board to about a 40 person board in the matter of 4 months.
