Brian asks the Staff of SS, a Question...
For God Sakes don't you even think about deleting this one..It's a very legit question and must be discussed. (BTW: We all know you have been deleting all the threads about me so stop it)

As you may or not know, I was recently banned for being Too BLUNT and Offensive. I am a man who would rather sketch you a picture of how something works rather than type at great lengths, so I find the internet an interesting challenge. I Love cars and how they work, I love helping others Love cars and understand how they work better. That is my only goal on this and other forums that I frequent.
Possibly the worst thing a Moderator or Admin can do to a forum, over regulate it. People come here to relax and get away from BS. People here spend their time discussing points or ideas that are valid to them, deleting them is like taking that idea away from them or somehow making that point invalid. Rather than deleting or closing a thread, a moderator can steer the conversation in the direction of the topic. Leave the ******* thread alone. A Mod is not there to play God or Power-trip, a mod is there to serve the forum as a volunteer. If a Mod is called out, the Mod should answer the question, not delete it and the member. If the Mod is incapable of answering the question, perhaps he/she is the wrong person for the appointment. We are here to discuss all topics; the forum is broken down into threads and sections that accommodate all topics. This is a car forum, not a forum about warm blankets, knitting, fluffy animals or saving whales. To drive a car you must be at least 16 Years of age most everywhere. 17 is the minimum age that you can joint he army and kill people. What “Youth” are we protecting with all these rules? Being excessively concerned with how one or two people might be offended makes the forum hostile to all other members. If it gets to the point that “They” don’t enjoy it, “They” can make their own forum called “COBALT SS Light”. We are all adults and we all have the ability to not be offended by random impersonal slander or common speech as it is today.
Here is what I have posted to the Admin/Moderators. It was not answered and was basically deleted.
I am an Admin on 3 Mazda Forums
I am a Moderator 4 Mazda Forums.
I understand how things can get out of hand, let me assure you, this is the most “Fluffy” Forum I go to. Most people are calling people “Silly” or a “Ninny” here. You really have nothing to moderate here. Everyone simply gets along compared to other forums.
I Have a suggestion. Spend some time pruning the mess of threads in your sections. Merge threads. Link threads, close dead threads or combine the question and result into a “FAQ” that is a sticky before deleting or closing the thread. The idea here is that let’s say in the 2.0 L section.. A FAQ would be made and only the moderator would be able to post. He/She will research the section and find common questions with good answers, quote them and post them in the FAQ… It sounds like work, but the fundamental Moderator position is a “Volunteer That Has The Time To Improve The Form”
The Moderator(s) that have been deleting my and others posts, Stop It and **** Off right now. If you have a problem, find a solution and at least take the time to PM the member, don’t just think that we don’t see our post is missing. It pisses the member off and is a sign of weakness or lack of the ability to lead the section.
This forum is great, it needs basic rules to function, but mostly it needs more effective and mature leaders.
P.S. Thanks to the members that posted their support to my "Ways" I am Blunt and will try to count to ten before typing in the future. The those who don't like me, too bad eh?

I'd like to express my great disappointment with the forum. Deleting Posts is horseshit. Merging similar posts is what is desperately needed on this forum, not the PC and fluffy attitude that I have witnesses where everyone is walking on eggshells to make sure that no one could possibly be offended. If a person asks a stupid question, they should get a stupid answer. If they ask a question that has been answered 20 times in other thread, they should be told to search in a PM and their “Duplicate” thread should be deleted or added to the existing one.
This has to be the most oddly moderated forum I have ever frequented. I am blunt; people will not evolve if you are always protecting them in a sterile environment. If you ask a stupid question and get flamed, then you might look into it next time and actually learn, evolve and become a better member.
The forum is great, you have to set some basic rules and let it go, this over controlling policy will eventually kill the board.
Have Fun. Let me know what you decide because quite frankly, I don't own a Cobalt nor do I plan to, When I first joined I tried and succeeded to stir up a level of discussion higher than just painting interior panels or adding a larger wing to the SS..
The SS is a great platform to start with; its members have to get away from the regular Cavalier level of $0.50 bolt on rice. The forum is made up of adults; we adults do not need to be protected from the truth or opinions. Basically, conflict is a daily reality.
Bye

very very very well put Brian....I for one am happy to have you hear you have been a help to this forum and to me many times. I hope the mods will get of there "high horse" and realize that being blunt is offten the best way to be and people simply need to grow up a little bit.
welcome back

A lot of the time when I'm in a hurry I scan through a thread, looking for certain posters whom I know will provide solid input. "Brian MP5T" is definitely one of the names that pass through my internal filter. The signature Porsche always catches my eye; it's like a beacon of logic and brilliance in the sea of fallacy called "Internet."
You know Brian... You and I have had our differences on here, but all in all, you are a very intelligent person. I respect you, and MOST of what you say. I too believe that many issues, on here, are like beating a dead horse. Too repetative threads, threads that are not Cobalt related (what you do, my girl friend said.., who shaves their legs, etc...).
This web site needs to grow up and advance. THIS SITE WAS DEVELOPED TO EDUCATE, AND SHARE IDEAS with fellow Cobalt owners. I'm sorry if this offends anyone....but that is what I think!
WELCOME BACK BRIAN!

I am glad that we are a forum that is able to have a civilized conversation ABOUT LIFE and things of that sort (save for politics), But things really are getting repetitive.
PS: Congrats to Brian for becoming a Premium Member!!!

Can anyone say NATE FOR MOD?

Thanks to all for the constructive discussion and the support for this post.
Basically, I see that I am not the only one who sees some Overmoderation or paranoia that someone might be offended. It's going to happen, people will have problems with each other, that's life.. It's not a big deal.

Your Welcome! I hope you will continue to enlighten us, and share your vast knowledge.
I would hate to see Brian, who's been one of the most informative and interesting members on this site, get banned.
I watch and read his posts closely and have never found an issue anywhere.
Moderators should take his first post into consideration.

i believe the reason you were banned was for flamming n00bs and other members for asking stupid questions or reposting something. yes, you do contribute knowledge to the site but the flaming could not go unseen nor unpunished. we try to provide a friendly atmosphere here and i know sometimes it gets out of hand. as long as you don't flame and call other members names and so on you should be fine. welcome back and congrats on becoming a premium member.
earmuffs...........j/k
Ya'll know how I feel if you read the "deleted" thread. If not I think that there are things around the site that need to be changed. Unfortunately, it took someone getting banned and multiple deleted threads for these issues to come into the light.
