Control of parts sale threads!

We need a way of getting people to stop reviving old for sale threads. Lately we've had a lot of n00bs coming in, all parts horny, and bumping year old stuff.
Can we have them automatically get deleted or locked after something like 2 months?

If people really care about selling their stuff, they'll bump it at least once every 60 days, right?

I think they should expire after 2 weeks and if the item is still for sale the seller can repost!!!
That should clean it up!

2 weeks is a bit short. Some threads like the wing trade/sale thread dont get bumped all the time.

the thread owner should be able to lock the thread when item has sold.

Two weeks is enough time for most items to sell. And if they haven't then the seller will have to actively bump (relist) it themselves to keep it online!

They have the power to edit and say *SOLD* at the beging, but some don't.
They could also delete the entire thread.

two weeks sounds good to me. the mods should be able to sticky threads like the wing trade and keep them from expiring. other wise relist.

The best method is for a member to mark there thread SOLD after the item is sold... If they can't remember to go back and type sold I doubt they will go back and lock it.

The "thread expired" would be to much of a pain in the ass, a mod/admin would basically have to do it by hand to each thread.

i would agree with this as well. vendor can contact admin when they want to close it out.

bad thing is if a vendor sees it he my do another g/p on the product. perfect example was the shorty antenna from ARK. had someone not asked about it he may not have redone a g/p on it again and i wouldnt have bought 2 of them for my 2 cars.

or aaron at turbo tech had a weekend sale on the injen but since some are still asking about it hes keeping the price a little longer.

but all in all i agree with the statement

You guys know you can delete your own threads... right?

WRT locking up old threads... VBulletin should have an option in the admin control panel to either automatically lock, or delete threads older than XX days. As I recall it's called 'topic clean up' or something to that effect.

Could there not be an auto flag after two weeks, the polls expire? why not classified too?

That is the problem, some don't attend their thread after an item is sold. Then someone not paying attention replies to a year old add.
