Minimum post count for starting a new thread?!?!

So... we've all seen the rash of webspammers around here... not to mention noobs posting waste threads... this just wastes space on the server... and kills even more bandwidth.

Let's set a minimum post count before you can start a new thread. Can we do this?

Setting 10 posts as a limit for "full" membership so you can start a new thread would kill all of this spamming cold... and would encourage new members to contribute to pre-existing threads

What y'all think?

I guess I'm the only one who thinks it's a bad idea. I few months ago I joined a Howard Stern forum that had minimum post rules in place and I hated it. I ended up stop visiting the forum because when I did want to make a post about something I couldn't. I think a rule like this would cause new members to go elsewhere and just up the amount of useless crap posted in other threads so new members could increase their post counts faster.

Yea you must do 10 searches first before you can post. Then make a list of possible key words just so there isint any "what do i scearch for?" questions. Mabe spelling it out is the key.

What's not to say that someone would make just 10 random posts then in the general forum? I like the idea, but I personnaly think that by setting rules such as this, can result in more user spam.

Overall good idea. Although I say we work on promoting those red name tags you see under your username!

most new members tend to post threads about topics that have been covered 100s of times instead of using the dreaded search button

X8 (i think) because this will stop the bots from spamming. Unless they are smart enough to post 10 times and then start a thread...but if they are that smart then ****...props to them!

I don't think it will stop every one but there is a chance that it may cut down on some of the crap. Any thing would help. I would say atleast try and if it doesn't work or if newbs start leave, reverse the process.

yea, 10 isnt bad, maby they can even get one free welcome opening thread tho... or even better, just have a New User thread where people can introduce themselves on rather than starting a new thread for every new person
