Exclamation Ransom-Ware type ads!

I got an pop up ad on my laptop just now when viewing the site and it took over my computer, trying to get me to call a number to unlock my computer and the pop up wouldnt go away.

Luckily i used task manager and ended chrome, but i get these type of malware ads on my phone too when visiting the site. All sorts of things saying ive won contests and wanting personal info. These ads only appear when im visiting CSS.

Whats up IB?

I had this happen a few days ago as well when I came back to using this site, as I've been gone for some time. I was not able to kill it as easy. My computer was basically taken over. I could not run my anti virus, or windows defender. I had to power the computer down and reboot in safe mode and do a reset. I was lucky enough to beable to reset windows without losing any of my files.

Hey guys,

These browser re-directs are almost always from hacked ads. IB is actively squashing them as they popup, while removing ad partners who are unable to screen the ads they serve. These hacked ads are not unique to Cobalt/Internet Brands as I seem them elsewhere.

What page or thread were you trying to load? Also, if possible right click on the Chrome screen 'View Page Source' and look for the redirect URL. A screen shot will also help. A simple 'cntrl- alt - del' should get you to Task Manager then kill the process. Thanks.

Bob

I've had it happen all over the place in the page on my phone. It won't let me go back so I usually end up having to close the browser

I'm really not impressed with how this sure functions. All other forums I frequent work 100x better.

I've been using adblockers (not ADP, they sold out) and it'll pick up an ad or two when I browse the site as well.

Of course, I haven't been impressed with how much "stuff" is being loaded in the backend of the forum either.

I had this happen before on my phone, then it stopped for some time. Now it's doing it again, it seems to happen to me once every three times I go to load the homepage, then at random when selecting various threads.

Sad to see this is still happening. Makes me not regret using an ad blocker. It's getting out of hand.
