This site needs reform!

I understand the "no selling stuff for cobalts that could take away from paying vendors" but honestly, how the hell is posting a link to a new, cheap find for animal treats hurting any vendor? I'll be damned if I see ZZP or TTR start selling Beggin' Strips. See this thread:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/lounge-42/all-you-animal-lovers-130988/

So my point is as follows: I think the site needs reform of the "rules". A lot of threads are being locked lately that wouldn't have been before. So, if posting links to good finds is against the forum rules, then any ebay link should be removed as well. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. This will probably get locked as well.... but JonnyB, if you ever read this or not let the mods run your site for you, please make some ammendments to your rules to not let it be so open-ended and inconsistent.

there are a lot of threads and polls about removing/banning certain topics. i feel you on the ebay links, but i see how they don't appreciate free advertising. all the same though...

yea it doesnt make sense we are supposed to a community to help each other out, but you need to help other owners out with posting approved vendor listed items...c'mon seriously.

half the vendors on here havent posted since like 2006.

that is w/out a doubt free advertising. vendors here pay a lot of money to advertise here. how would you like it if you were a vendor and paid to advertise and then have a member post a link to his buddy's site for free advertisement?

these have always been the rules since i joined here so it's nothing new.

Another thread I can vent on, the rules are made and should be followed. No matter what you do on the site they will be broken. It's the Mods jobs to enforce them and we assist them. I think the main reason the threads are getting locked is because of the HAZING!!! It's one of the rules and if we can't even follow that one rule then why add more?

the 6 vendors that frequent these forums all sell pretty much the same thing, so your saying before any one can go outside of the box they have to pay whatever rediculous price it is to become a vendor and wait the 3 months it takes to get approved for it? totally worth it

I kinda of look at it more of advertisement. It's not free and will never be, someone is paying for it.

what he is referring too is not advertising of any car part why would someone pay to sell dog treats?? haha, good to know you have all the dog treat competition on this site eliminated. if no buisness is lost by a vendor do you think theyd care if someone posted a link to dog treats?

it doesn't matter if they sell sand. the forum rules clearly state.

No free advertisements - If you are the owner or employee of a company, don't mention it, or put links and phone numbers in posts or signatures. Only Supporting Vendors can use links and numbers in signatures and posts.

That I can't answer. And as for the advertisement, like in my sig I do it for Userbars.com and have for about 2 years, up until a year ago I finally asked Jonel and he said it was cool. I don't sell anything. Now if I was the owner of TTR and I was advertising I am taking CSS.net customers and making money from the Admin here. So by the CSS.net Admin asking for some money in return they all equal out. You know bandwith isn't cheap if you know anything about servers, and I've had Userbars.com for 6 years and trust me with out paid assistance it gets expensive.

But if you look at that, that benefits all members. He's just trying to help out everyone. Free yes, benefit to him, no.

haha dude its cool, i just wanted to show that everyone does it, its a BS rule in MOST cases, i think it should be reformed to anything non car related is allowed. it would be cool to find ipod accessories on here, i have 2 dogs as well so i would like discounts on that stuff too, since im on here 14 hours a day id say it would be easier to find here....

i agree that everyone does it. not everyone gets a warning or infraction though. like that link the OP provided for example, the OP didn't get a warning or infraction for it. the thread was just closed and link deleted.

Why? Should have moved it to the "Stuff for Sale" section.
