It reduces database queries by limiting how often a user can post.
And no, I've never had to post something SO bad I couldn't wait 30 seconds
I used to work 3rd shift in an office alone, WTF else am I supposed to do?
Besides, I only average like 30 posts per day

Ur average may be 30 posts/day but your total posts is still crazy. I could never do that. I'm glad to have more than 3,000

Yeah, I personally use tabs. So I read a thread title, open it in a new tab, and then read and start replying in bunches.. so I end up waiting. Even if it was 20 or 15 seconds.. MySQL should be okay with that. If not.. the site is well overdue for a bigger server or finding a new host. (MEDIATEMPLE!! ..not an advertisment.. I use them for my sites... they hold up great for a site of mine that gets 500 000 hits a day with 30-40 queries to MySQL per page load.)

I can't figure out how to post since it tell me every freaking time that I've posted within the last 15 seconds as a duplicate.
How about going to the older forum so you don't lose people to other sites. Thanks!
