To get this server fixed ? The is frustrating as FXXX. There is no reason to have had these issue's going on for so long ....unless it's not a priority.

'Cause it's .net man. Server issues and database errors are more common than GF threads now. It's insane.

...but this is the "new" and "improved" forum, remember

Another thread to add to the many "I hate this server" threads.

It isn't a priority.

Search puts a huge strain on the server. Another forum I read had database issues until they limited search to only people that have donated to the site. They eventually got new hardware, but it fixed the issue until they were able to find a new host.

If there was proof that the vast majority here use the search then I would agree. Based on the ridiculous number of duplicate posts I think it's safe to say this isn't the case. I can't remember but if you're only a guest, are you able to perform a search? If so then this should be disabled all together imo.

New posts, My posts, and the Latest Posts section on the homepage are all searches. I would say almost everybody uses the New Posts and My Posts sections. That's the only way I browse the forums. Less searching means less database use.

#1 this site is hosted in a shared DataCenter it seems #2 It needs a dedicated server (don't think it has already) for the BE , the FE can be shared (preferred dedicated) then it should handle the volume hands down

also if they did maint on the DB and clean up any empty tables, plus there may be a bug in the vBulletin forum version, don't care enough to figure it out.
