I think it turned out pretty well. Turtle Wax then Armor All on the inside, I need something to bring the black out of the seals and various parts, and there are scratches on my roof from the prior owner -.-

Pull that pin stripe off. These cars look like **** with them, it was the very first thing I did to my car...

ps. you need a good wax and polish. See how the water is laying on the paint and not beading off?

 

Just a FYI, Armor All has been known to crack some dashes in the past and it attracts dust. I just use normal water as I'm usually only wiping off dust that has accumulated.

I've researched a lot into detailing, I hear great things about Collinite #845 and will be trying that next.

 

Meguinars (sp?) makes a natural protectent/cleaner that I use. It does a great job, leaves a clean surface with no glare, and it isnt greasey when you touch it. The ingredients list is low. I like it because it brightens the plastics a bit without being so obnoxious and slippery. You cant even feel it.

I used Turtle Wax Carnauba and that's it. It rained 2 days after I did it so it didn't take as well as I would like. It's Oregon...hard to catch a break. This week is supposed to be good and I got the garage all done so the car will be in there. I'll be re waxing and possibly buying a buffer this weekend and I'll do it up right and take some proper pictures.

 

Doesnt matter, the water should bead and roll off. It needs a good claybar/wax/polish.

Soak the pinstrip in goo gone, heat it with a blow dryer, and pull it off with your nails. A plastic razor blade can help you get started but do not scrape it against the paint because it will scratch. Just use it to get under the stripe and get started then pull.

The heat and goo gone makes it easy. Literally took me less than 10 minutes to get all of mine off. After, wash the car and wax it becase goo gone takes the wax off too.

Yup I can attest to this, I used it a few times on my old cobalt and my dad told me to stop immediately. He had a 2005 Suburban that he used armor all on all the time and he said it dried right out and was developing a crack near the windshield after only 2 years.

Too bad to cuz I love the way Armorall looks but theirs this other stuff called "smart trim" and it doesn't look as shiny as armorall but it doesn't contain the petroleum distillates so it wont dry out the trim, but it not only protects but it makes plastics black again and cleans. I'ts not as cheap but I use it all the time, inside and out

 

Collinite #845 is the best stuff!! also a product called Formula 113 by wax daddy is great just started using it on my car and it makes it pop like nothing else

 

i've had some bad experiences with armor-all in the past leaving my interior greasy. i'm now using optimum protectant and couldn't be happier. leaves a nice matte finish and no greasy look and feel. plus it has uva and uvb protection.

 

I heard the 3M adhesive remover wheel works real good and doesn't harm the cars paint or anything. I'm tempted to get it and use it on my girlfriends cobalt and my truck to remove pin stripe.

 

Why did you use turtle wax? Just curious. I like surf city garage.
