Been a long time member and I've spent many hours on this site, I still frequent from time to time just to see what's going on in the Cobalt world but rarely post. Good to see so many OG's still on here.
Seems that Victory Red SS/SCs are reproducing fairly quickly around my neck of the woods, as I've seen as many as 4 in one day recently, but I still have mine I bought new in August '07. It just turned 161,000 miles, clutch is starting to go, but other than a ZZP cat back, Varrstoen wheels, and headlights and taillights it has remained bone stock and dead reliable.
Now onto the new toy, and as I upload the picture I realize I probably never mentioned the 2nd car in the pic.
2006 Z06, 30,000 miles, low optioned early production run car, American Heritage Head package, huge cam, LSX-R intake with 102 mm TB, matching size CAI, McLeod clutch, long tubes and an insanely loud exhaust all adding up to 577whp
2000 Trans Am, T-tops, auto, 2.73 rear geared cruiser. Bought November 2015 with 130,000 and a bunch of little issues. Resealed the entire engine, new rack, UMI rear arms, adjustable torque arm, and panhard bar, TSP long tubes, Magnaflow exhaust, Eibachs on Bilstiens, new stereo system, poly mounts, emissions deleted and tuned. Great road tripper now.
I thought the Trans Am was a fast car, until I got the Z, its a freaking rocket ship and makes the Cobalt legit feel slow, not even remotely quick anymore. I've always lusted after a C6 Z06 and always said "someday", I just didn't realize someday was so close. The guy I bought it from was on the hunt for a C7 Z06 so he sold this one. For the mileage, condition, mods, and price, I just couldn't say no. It's everything I would have done to one had I bought one in stock condition, and while I would rather have done the work myself, it's perfect. My only plans are a new head unit, maybe tone down the exhaust drone, and drive the hell out of it.
