Sorry guys...but there has been an issue regarding the lease holder of the property and the track has been forced to shut down. This is very bad news as were just a few weeks away and i personally was really looking forward to this years event. Unless you are all still interested in meeting in san angelo we will have to cancel our hotel reservations until we can secure another location. I am very sorry guys, but this was completely out of my control and i was just notified about it.

Not sure what is going on but i need hear that maybe there is already some1 in line to take it over...........also why cancel the whole thing? Why not atleast set it up for a car show or something.....im sure some ppl have already made plans to go.

 

i think with everyone that is already planning on coming for this i think it would be smart to keep the meet/ show portion still on. then in the meantime look for another track. locations can always be moved. but people have asked off and such for this and are going to want to do something that weekend. just what i think

 

give tulsa raceway park a call. seriously... Dan is a great guy. you may not be able to rent the track for the same days you had planned. but i bet he'd be more than happy to help you guys out with different days.

Tulsa Raceway park is in OK though, it wouldnt make much sense to host the LONESTAR bash in OK.

Ennis or Crandall is my vote, makes it easier on the OK guys. Also a few scheduling conflicts came up since the original date was around Spring Break, so a later date would work best for us. Mid/Late April would be ideal.

 

I wasnt trying to bash your idea or anything but it just wouldnt make much sense to host it in OK.
and im sure we can find another track.
San Angelo isnt the only city in Texas with a track.

Problem being we were going to have the car show at the track. No track = no place to have the show. If you guys know of a park, parking lot/structure or some place of that sort that might let us host 50-100 cars, I'm guessing Scott is open to suggestions.

The only problem is that out of the people who show up, it's probably around half who actually display, the other half are there solely to race, so without a track they would have no reason to come.

Ennis is awesome. The cost of renting the track would result in an entrance fee of something like $100 per car to enter, which is not awesome. That's a large part of why it wasn't hosted there.

Contact the track in Abilene.......only a 1/8th but super nice and alot of room for a carshow. Also a hotel right down the road.
