Anyone in Austin, TX?

Heyo.. I am currently living in NC, but I will be moving to Austin, TX within 2009, and I am trying to see if there is a tuner scene out there. I visited Austin during SxSW, and didn't see any tuners.. What's the word Austin?

I pretty much live in Austin when I'm not at home. I hate my home town so I stay there as much as possible.

Excellent! I was worried that I wouldn't have any meets to look forward too. I should be out there by September, but it all depends on how quickly I can save up some money for the move..

Any info on the scene, or how to make the move eaiser is encouraged! Thanks for the responses guys!

Obviously you haven't checked around, we're not large but we're pretty well known.

As Htown said, check www.centexcc.com - We hang out and chill pretty often. I do toonz for LSJ if you're looking.

And this is going on on Sunday if you have nothing else going on.

Austin has a big scene just like Houston and San Antonio. crews from all cities get together and have some massive races and get togethers, and alternate between cities frequently. Some of the Austin crew comes down for our Friday night at Biffs in north San Antonio (IH 35/Toeppwien) and vise versa back in Austin. Good luck with your move. You will love it.

Well, the meet we usually go to (to hang out and not race at) got shut down, and it was so late in the year nobody really tried finding a new place. There's talks going on but idk if they started meeting at a new place yet.

But there's race meets every Saturday night in 2 areas I know of.

^lol yeah, i gotta prep for the Texas summers.. Yeah, NC is a great state, it's been good to me, but i've been here for toooooo long. And everyone I talk to about Austin says it's badass, so here I come Travis county! (My name is Travis, and was named after that county actually)

your going to have to re tint your car when you get here lol
legal limit here is 20% on front side windows and dark as you want on the rest. not that your current tint isnt legal..just that the sun is alittle more harsh down here

haha nah unless city ordinance makes it less the base for Texas is 35%. Even then if you get pulled over by anything other than a city cop you will still get a ticket

you both fail...texas state law states 20%, no blue, red. or reflective tint and not below the line on the windshield ... im a state inspector, trust me. whoever told you 35 is incorrect. if a cop is dumb enough to write you a ticket for a 20% tint you simply take it back to the inspector to have it re-checked and the ticket can be dropped.

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/insp...ejectsubmit=Go

20.32 Window Tinting. All 1988 or newer model vehicles that have window coating, tinting, or sunscreening applied to the windows must be inspected for the following:

1. Inspect for and reject if:

a. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windshields:

1) Extends downward beyond the AS-1 line or more than five (5) inches from the top of windshield on vehicles without an AS-1 line. Measurements shall be taken from inside the windshield; or

2) Is red or amber in color.

b. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windows:

Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver, which open, have less than 20% light transmittance.

there ya go.

Oh hell yeah! I always wanted darker tint, but in NC it's like 33% and I knew the cops would give me enough trouble as it is with the vic red and highrise spoiler.. nice!

yea..sucked while i was there cus i got 20% on mine in NC and when i moved here i just happened to be at the legal limit already lol ...also a little trick for those of you in texas that want darker front windows...when you go in for inspection just roll both front windows down and pull the fuse so they cant roll them up and check them..will work about anywhere..they wont even think about it.
