DFW DB Meter??
Does anybody in the DFW have a meter that can read between 130db - 150db?
i want to see how hard my system hits my previous was 126.3 with my old system and now i want to meter this since it seems to be much louder

I don't know how high mine goes....I know it goes upto 125, but I don't plan to do competitions, so I don't need a system louder than that....however, just cause it sounds louder doesn't mean it is higher dB, it could just be better SPLs
theres 2 audio shops close to me that have a meter and theres a local audio competition around my area i think u pay $20 to compete and u get metered there also
one of the audio shops close to me charges $40 to get metered i dont know about the other audio shop and both audio shops go to competitions and compete so they know their stuff unlike the guys at best buy and sometimes car toys

HAHAHAHAHAHA...best buy can check dB? The people at most of them don't know much....I had one of them tell me that my subs would not fit in the box I used to have them in....and when I showed them they could, they were astounded....and it was their box!!! Car toys guys tend to know a lil more than best buy guys, but I would take it to a car audio specialty shop with a good reputation, they can usually get a good meter on it and then even give you suggestions to take it up or raise your SPLs without losing dBs
yea car toys does know ALOT more than best buy does but id still go to a car audio shop that competes in car audio competitions
the guys at my best buy know a hell of alot more than the guys at the local car toys
Actually, no they are not the same. Sound Pressure Levels are not the same as a dB. The SPL is in relation to pressure as the name states. The dBs are a measure of a sound level. I used to be deep into the car audio world when the 1000 watt systems were massive.
damn he knows his **** sp33dy i would stop trying LOL
Not really, dB is loudness, you can have huge SPL #s and not be able to hear a thing
Ill have my handheld one in my car tomorrow at the meet before TMS, u can try and see if it will read urs

im tryin 2 save up for a meter right now...TL's aint cheap
that really wasnt 159 db...it was more 152-154db and when he said it was 20,000 watts it wasnt i looked up those amps their 2400RMS so that COULD be 12,000 watts BUT his voltage was low (11.4-12.1) on 1 250 amp alt even tho he had a big battery bank in the back he still would need a voltage level of around 14.4-14.6 to get the true 12,000 watts of power and plus the RE SX's cant hand 5,000 watts RMS id expect that from the RE MT but no the SX...overall that system was pretty impressive hit the lows pretty good i was jus happy 2 see a REAL system out there
