what would it take to bring as many texas cobalt's possible, at the same track, on the same day? everybody please speak up! i tried this past weekend, and failed horribly. i'm sure i am fighting the drag and brag over at tms. when would be a better time for everyone? what venue would be most attractive? i am willing to work with whatever i have to for this to happen. i am not trying rain on any other track days or cruises, i just want to make something happen and keep it going quarterly, annually, MONTHLY, whatever. but, i need to hear from everyone, not even limited to texas, what you can do and want to see happen. i'm not a promoter, or some rich kid. just a regular guy that is gonna make the best impact i can on our community.

Drag and Brag ends on august 7th, they want as many people as they can get out there on that day. I think we should all try and meet up on the 7th at TMS.

After that i am going to want to continue to go to some track, because it is very addicting. I have no idea what track is the best around here and that isnt an hour away. Whats the closest track to DFW?

all the TX cities usually get together once a year for the 'TX Bash.' but i'd be down for a road trip if theres enough interest in this meet from the rest of the tx people

yeah the tms thing would be cool. but, no traction, no tree, no times, no view. i might go that night, i just wanna do this seperate from that.

there is a new track in crandall that is a really nice track. its off 175 eastbound. i hooked a lot better there than i did at texas motorplex. kennedale is also a good place. i just need some more suggestions, because it doesn't have to be in the metroplex. whatever venue will get the most cobalts out is where i want it to be. let me know where you are, and what your favorite local track is.

when we come together, i will contact the track we decide on to see if we can make an event out of this. it all depends on who steps forward and stays faithful. i would like to get this big enough to get recognition from a magazine or two. but, for now let's start small and have fun.

keep it coming, i'm keeping record of suggestions and ideas.

 

It's called the GM Lonestar Bash, there should be another one coming up in February. It was held at Ennis this year and will most likely be there again next year.

 

Lonestar bash was decent but kind of a flop, your not really gonna get a cobalt thing recoginized by mags, there just arent enough of us in select areas, if you just wanna try to get alot of cars together you can try posting on di.net, I think we should probably do a lunch and cruise sumtime soon, those seem to get a lil better turn out especially if its at a hooters/bone daddys/twin peaks, speaking of, I could definitely go for some bone daddys lol, the new one in arlington is nice, and the one in grapevine is nice also, actually all of them are lmao

PS: Im wanting to set up a cruise around christmas time for all imports/sport compacts, possibly call it Tuners for Tots and do a toy drive and cruise together, so any1 willing to help with that pm me

 

i've seen alot of lsj and lnf cars around dallas. i know we can pull something together.

i don't wanna fall into another event, i would like to start something original. i would be more than happy to show up to something else, but i'm gonna get all the help i can to get this thing rolling.

i guess i'm gonna have to set a date around october and just promote the hell out of it. i can get it done right, im in a band that has packed many bars. i have some good production connections to do such a thing.

who will volunteer to get some fliers out at your local shops, tracks, and some other forums?

wait, so you are trying to start another DFW car meet when there is already 5+ a week? Try and plan a get together at Hooters for just the cobalt guys, i'm sure a lot will show. The DFW guys used to meet a lot, it was all organized by one guy who just created quick lunch/dinner meets, but he isn't around this forum anymore and DFW cobalt meets have basically stopped ever since. The problem with the DFW guys is that everyone wants a meet, then bails at the last minute and it's a crappy turnout. That's probably why there hasn't been a good meet in a while.

 

agreed with hockeyman, lets do a saturday lunch or dinner at a bone daddys or hooters sum time soon, at that point we can discuss something bigger, kind of a meeting of the minds

yea if you wouldve come out to crandall on friday, we had 2 balts out there lol, Hockeyman and I were both there, they were doin 2 much bracket racing to get any test and tune stuff done but it was kool to meet him and his friend in the VW

Hockeyman, your car is 07? I will definitely have to do what we were discussing because it wont just flash over to my car since mine is an 06 and what tensioner/belt setup are you running on the 2.8?

well, if we do a lunch get together...how about bone daddy's in richardson? only problem is it looks like only blkwdo, hockeyman, and myself will be there. if some people commit to it, i would like to do it august 29th. fill me in on your opinions and i will make another thread about it.
