Emissions in SC?
Moving to the Charleston area in the next week or so. I've got an 08 LNF. Was wondering if there is any kind of emissions testing there.
Right now all I have is a K+N typhoon, charge pipes and a tune. Was thinking about getting a DP and wasn't sure if i need to go catted or if I can get away with no cat.
Up here in WA they don't even do a visual, never lift the hood. They just plug it in and look for codes. No codes, good to go. What can I expect when I get to SC and try to get a registration for my car?

No. There is no safety nor emissions laws in South Carolina.
As far as registering it. You will need to get SC insurance first. Once you have that, you goto the Tax office. Have proof of residency, proof of insurance, and your title. You pay a tax based off what its worth (my 06 Cobalt is $66 a year). They give you a receipt. You take the receipt to the DMV, along with your old ID, proof of insurance, residency, etc. I think it was like $30 for a plate, and like $25 for the drivers license. They will also take your old title and issue you a SC title.
Custom tags are a one time fee of $30 as well.
I just did it in July, so just ask if you have any other questions.

Awesome, thank you too. Everything I own is in a container already there. If the VA spits out some paperwork soon I will be too. Can not wait to get there.
I'm renting a townhouse on James Island since I just moved down. Plan on buying a house in Mt Pleasant though. Damn living on Isle of Palms. I think the cheapest house I've seen there was like 500k lol.
they do a coffee and cars thing in mount p on saturdays from 0800 - 1030 at Atlanta Bread (in the towne center shopping area)...usually some nice cars out there...
also meet on saturday nights at the Sofa Super Store on Rivers (across from KMart)...little bit of everything goes out there...some good...some waaaaaaaaay bad.....just depends...
other than that...there isnt much else....would love to get a cobalt meet going tho...

Foximus I'm pretty sure I've seen your car in Pittsburgh before. Actually I think it was in Tarentum near Pittsburgh Mills. I use to be in pgh a lot when my fiance went to college there before we moved to SC.
