Eh... I wouldn't worry so much about a cold air intake as I would a header and a downpipe. A header/downpipe will help WAY more than any intake. You can just do the airbox mod (I'll show you how if you wanna meet up one day) and it's just as good, if not better than any aftermarket intake. Unless you wanna go with a bigger intake, though you don't have any need for a bigger intake just yet. Look into getting a stainless steel header with 1.75" primaries and a stainless steel downpipe with a high-flow cat. converter. You don't wanna go catless because it'll be EXTREMELY raspy and ricey. The stock exhaust piping is okay for now because it's 2.5" all the way back to the stock muffler. If the car doesn't already have an aftermarket muffler, get one. I paid $160 to have a new magnaflow muffler put on my car. That will help the most.

Another thing you can look into getting beside cooling mods is traction mods. If you don't know already, our cars wheel hop and/or spin EXTREMELY bad. A solid engine mount from Turbo Tech racing and poly transmission mounts will eliminate the wheel hop. Then, it'll be up to how sticky your tires are if you can hold traction or not... If you don't wanna drop $300 into all of the mounts, get an ingalls torque dampener -for now-. It'll help some, but not so much as the solid and poly mounts.

Some things you need to check on your car also:
-Check to make sure your intercooler pump is working properly. Simply look at the small surge tank mounted on the supercharger. If the fluid isn't bubbling or flowing, bump the i/c pump with a hammer a few times. If it doesn't start working, you may need to replace it.
-Change your stinkin fuel filter. If you want, we can do it on the weekend we all meet up. I need to change mine as well...
-Check your spark plugs. Look into getting some 1 step colder NGK's.
-Get ready to buy a new K&N or other "cone" filter for the airbox mod. I have a K&N and it's amazing.
-If you really have the extra money, invest in using Royal Purple 5w30 oil. I use it, and Kevin can vouch for me when I say that it's 100x better than any other oil out there. It really frees up your engine.
-And for god's sake, check your brake pads. These bitches have squealers on them, meaning they'll aggravate the **** out of you if they need changing. I recommend changing them before they start making that awful racket.

Next question. lol

#1 In the mail tune.... HUGE NO NO. For the love of god dont do it. I would hate to see one of you guys with a blown motor.

#2 If you cant get someone to tune you the stage II if for you.

#3 stage II being rich? Problem solved run a stage II and a 2.9 pulley.

Anyone want have a meet this weekend in gulfport?
How about say friday afternoon?
My girl is into cars and wanted to come to the last meet but couldnt get off work so she wants to come with me.

Im not bashing you trey and im not saying your ideas are bad. but for me in the mail tunes are a huge mistake.
These cars are very weird. 2 2006 cobalt ss's with the exact mods or stock for the matter one tune will not necessarily work for both. stage II is a good place to start then go from there.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You wont *need* cooling mods for stage II but they cant hurt. The cooler the intake charge the more HP you can make.

Aaron, no doubt canned tunes are ****. I forgot to mention that. Thanks for bringing it up man I have a solution.

Run your car on a dyno. Get as many data logs as possible. Then, when you're ready to be tuned, send those data logs to your tuner and you'll be surprised how much better the tune will be. When a supporting vendor offers a "custom tune" as part of their kit, this is what they mean. I've broke bread and had many different fellowships with most all vendors that support s/c upgrades. If you can have it arranged to run the car multiple times on the same day you want it tuned, then tweeks can be made to the tune via hp tuners. The tuner can send the new tune to the dyno shop and they can simply upload it onto your car's pcm. After that, run it again, and if any changes need to be made, they can be. Here at JMS, I believe they charge $75 for three dyno runs, but I'm sure they'll charge more to transfer the tune, etc.

I also failed to mention the 2.9... It will solve the rich problem with the stage 2 tune, however, for the same amount you'll pay to have the dealer install a stage 2, you'll be able to get a 2.8 pulley, 60 lb/min injectors, colder plugs, either a smaller belt or a bigger tensioner pulley to take up the extra slack, and a CUSTOM tune. Believe it or not, you'll still come out under stage 2 pricing installed at the dealer... However, any supporting vendor will charge you a core charge for an extra pcm. You simply swap it with the stock pcm, send them your stock pcm, and they'll refund your core charge.

*deep breath.....*

So, does that clear everything up? I'm down for a meet friday also, but I WARN YOU ALL!!! My bumpers look like sex with an overly huge woman, so no flaming or throwing of stones. If we're off work, I'll txt you thursday night and let you know something Aaron. Helmets? Of course lol

BTW, you always need cooling mods. With a stock pulley, you NEED cooling mods. I've recorded IAT2s up to 204 degrees running a stock pulley. I'm about to order my CX racing heat exchanger either tonight, or thursday night. Hopefully my new boost gauge and short shifter will be here before we meet up this weekend. *crosses fingers*

I'm not bashing your ideas either Aaron. Stage 2 is a good place to start. Anthony, if you wanna get the stage 2 with a 2.9 then do it man. It'll be the easiest. You'll still have to pay the dealer to reflash your PCM. And we can install it for you. I just believe you can get more for your money by going the 2.8/60's way instead of the stage 2 pulley/42's....

Let's all meet in the mall parking lot... Either the banana mall in gulfport or edgewater in biloxi. Unless Aaron has a better spot he had in mind. I'm down for whatever ya'll wanna do... I speak for Kevin too. He'll say the exact same thing...

I dunno bout the horn thing. The idiots at the dealer I bought my car from tried to tell me my car doesn't have keyless entry the other day when I know I do. The alarm went off when I opened the door the other day lol

Biloxi/Woolmarket here...here's my bone-stock '07 LT. The only thing I've done is put a sub in the trunk. I'm an "old guy" (48) so I doubt I'll get any replies. I bought the car because I wanted a 4 cylinder Chevy and I liked the look of the Cobalts. I drive 100+ miles a day and I needed good fuel mileage. I looked for weeks trying to find a 5 speed, finally found one in Daphne, AL. Funny thing is, every time a young guy pulls up along side me (whether he's in a Honda or whatever) he wants to race, sometimes I lose, sometimes I don't
