Any Cobalt owners in the Myrtle Beach area or is anyone going to be down there June 10-17. I'm heading down with some friends but I'm trying to decide weather or not I should bring the 'balt because I have the option of riding with my buddy. Opinions?
Just ride with your buddy... save the miles on your car... not to mention you can split gas... which may be near $4/gal by then.
If you get down to myrtle there are gonna be a lot of tuners and etc down there... you're probably gonna be really tempted to street race and show off and so on... which is a bad idea considering how the cops are down there.

agreed. avoid the temptation and risk and ride with a buddy. I've been there, done that and yes during beach weeks there are many cars looking for trouble.
Cops are not very lenient (sp?) during this time of year and will bust you hard for screwing around.

Why would ya street race anyway. Yea I would ride w/ a buddy, driving down there blows. Last time I went was a few months ago to go see Lamb Of God and some others and than after the show got outta there haha. Nice drive though besides that one town called Mcbee or whatever and the then there are constant speed changes, can never be in cruise for too long. Course that depends on the way you go.
Aye... there are some good speed traps on the way down there... I love it when they make a friggin town out in the middle of nowhere just so they can drop the speed limit on a 4 lane highway to 35 for like 5 miles. Asshats...
Are the MB cops really that bad? I've been going there for years and I don't often see them setting traps and doing the kind of d*uchebaggery they do here in NY. I've never taken my SS though, and I tend to bring the "I don't care cuz it'd be an out of state ticket" attitude with me anyway. Perhaps I should lose that attitude?
Either way, I love MB - be down there in a couple months. Not sure if I'll take the SS or not...

Te cops can be bad... depending on what you are driving and what you are doing... it also depends on what week it is. Right after school gets out w/ graduation and whatever they tend to tighten down b/c of the number of kids running rampant down there.
I'd much rather go to a NC beach or the outer banks... the drive is longer... but everything is a lot nicer.

the MB cops aren't that bad, its the state troopers, ALE and SLED that are down there that you gotta worry about.
Right now its biker week, (goes for 2 weeks), then beach week (usually HS and College), then just summer tourism.
After that many people, cops tend to get frustrated with stupid behavior.
I've got a friend down there now that is in SLED, so I hear my stories
oh yea and its not the traps they set, but more or less just the number of cops around that watch out for stupid things that people do.
The traps are all the way down there.

I like the noise ordinance though, unlike here in Indian Trail and hearing nothing but boom, boom and stupid mufflers from idiot drivers its pretty quiet there. Well the times I have been there anyway(during "off-season").
I go to Myrtle every year, and I love it. I've never been for beach week as i've always had to work and i'd rather just go down with a few select friends, as I have a girlfriend of 3 years anyways. Anywho, me and a big group of my best friends used to all drive down (I believe the best we did was 6 hooked up cars) and its a blast. I've never once gotten in any trouble for my car down there, which in the past years was a fully modded '88 RX-7 convertible (red w/ black/polished wheels, cf mirrors/hood, racing seats........def a cop magnet) and was even louder than my 'balt......but like I said, no problems. I don't do stupid stuff like street race, but I gave my fair share of revs to passer bye's in opposing lanes. I love the drive down believe it or not, as I find it relaxing, and I love driving around the beach enviroment in my freshly cleaned/waxed car. Nothing beats it in my opinion.
