Remote start illegal in FL?

Was going to buy the viper security with remote start friday, they told me the remote start is illegal, and they wont even put the alarm system in, and not do that part, because someone that knows how, could set it up, and they'd still be liable.
They said it was because I have a manual car. (SS/SC)

Do any of the states that FL touches allow remote start on standard trans. cars? I'm about 1/2 up the state, won't take me long to get to one of the others.

Last time I checked the 05 SS/SC didn't have an auto option.

Its illegal up here in NJ too. They do sell a thing for your car that when you hit the remote start it pops your car out of gear. You should look into that.

Lol yeah.
Well my idea was let them install everything in the alarm system but that, and I'd have someone else do the remote start part later on, but they said they can't install any part of it, and that's the only alarm system they had with the LCD remote that shows what part of the car activated the alarm, and just tons of extras I would miss out on.

if you live in flordia why bother with a remote start? Just Curious... also remote starts are 100% illegal across all 48 states on a manaul transmission. That's asking for trouble using it...

Never heard of it being illegal.. I know the installs on them could take up to 6hrs for a manual. A lot of places won't do it because of liability in case u left it in gear and it went through your house or back into another car in the driveway.. I know i leave mine in reverse all the time

Well doesn't get cold enough to start it and heat up, but i'd start it and let it cool off many days out of the year. lol
Also, I "can't" have the alarm system that I want installed because it has remote start as an option.
I'll check out that audio excellence though.

I know my firend got one on his 2002 cavalier manual. They hooked it up. I would agree that you have to be careful with it. Must depend on the shop.

Two words... ITS HOT! LOL... Most people think of the remote start to warm your engine and car up in cold weather.. but here would be to cool it off a little before you go in.

I dont know if its illegal here.. havent heard that, but i know a lot of installers steer away from remote starts on manuals. And Best Buy wont install crap lol.. no remote start on manuals no steering wheel controller for radios... no emergency brake bypass for DVD systems(even though that IS Illegal lmao) Just find u a shop and ask one of the guys to do it on the side if the shop cant do it.

Yeah thats lame too, I wanted the dvd anytime.
But that's probably easier to fix than manual trans. remote start.

damn, since when did anyone care about things being illegal on their car? hello? mcfly? im still going to get the remote start regardless of its 'legality'...especially since in manual cars i have never formed the habit of leaving the car in gear...plus...if the e-brake is pulled...youll PROBABLY just stall the bitch REALLY bad.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You are soo right. A lot of what we do on our cars in means of modifing is illegal. Exhaust systems in Florida is illegal. I always leave my car in gear when parked, but I'm not worried about it because I do not care about auto start myself.

i've worked in the car audio/electronic field for 6 years. every time i have a customer with a manual car that wanted a remote start, i install it, but not warranty the work or give the customer his reset. i haven't hear anyone getting in an any sort of trouble for having a remote start on their manual car...
