It's actually not much on the hp gains... as much as the sound and the tip for how it looks. I want to put a big tip, I like the way they look but I also want to get it sound as best as I could. HP is a + but not really looking to do it for that.

Exactly. Going from stock to aftermarket will show gains, but going from aftermarket 2.5" to aftermarket 3" doesn't gain much at all.

like i said jon, bro just get like a nice muffler (HKS, Greedy, mpx) which is what you want and a good brand resonator to eliminate rasp, noise and give you some back pressure which you also need. no need to go 3"

 

Not gonna get into a huge explanation here, but you do not need backpressure. Pressure is restriction, and restriction is bad, always. What you can do with a more restrictive design is push your optimum flow to a lower point in the rpm band, making the car feel quicker down low, but that's only beacuse it isn't working as well as it should at higher flow levels.

Think of it this way, you are only moving your powerband. At some point a larger exhaust will only gain at a flow you just can't reach, which is what happens on these cars with the 3" system, there just isn't enough airflow to need 3".

Exhaust design is about velocity and flow, you want to keep the exhaust moving quickly to go out the pipe, not dump it into a big pipe and slow it down, that forces the engine to work to remove the exhaust gases. You want them to leave on thier own, and help pull the next firing cycle of exhaust out. That's where a proper header can gain power over a generic one, pulse timing and length matter.

damm great speech bro lol. i just thought it was good to have some back pressure for superchargers for power band reasons at lower rmps and stuff but now this clears things much better. cant ask for any better explamation. heres slow too btw lol

lol ok I guess I can do that, just thought since I can use the 3" might as well sell my whole 2.5 and get new 3" pipings with new resonator and muffler. Any resonator recommendations? I don't this to sound extremely loud, specially not like the megan I had before lol.

 

Holy **** *****!!! I got quoted $400 to re-drill the LNF hubs to 5x114.3....that's $100 per hub... What u guys think?
