Dstinsman56 went out cause he didnt check the forums today, he didnt know that we all werent going cause of the rain ... but he told me that it was deserted out there on 19th. Big reason that I didnt wanna go cause of the rain was because of all the crazy/young drivers.. I dont wanna get hit or anything like that.

I seen a dude on the side of the road in a newer eclipse , and stopped to see if he needed help , his motor was water locked , sucked it up through his cai when he went through a massive puddle . After that I parked my baby for the nite LOL!!

holy sh.. that sucks.. I was so scared today, when I was driving around cause I have the CAI setup right now... Does anybody know if the filter on the 2.2 is encased by the front bumper or not, cause thats what it looks like... Im just not to sure if it is safe for me to drive like it is now (no puddle splashing, and im taking it slow through puddles) or should I just be safe and swich over to SRI??

its problay hidden , but you can never be to shore water is some trickey **** and it will get into places on a car that you don't even know exsist . just don't fly through puddles and when you do try to let off the throttle so if it does get some water in the piping it won't take the full trip to you motor *hopefully*

Yeah, its better to be safe then sorry... hey I was thinking about the Air Byass Valve for CAIs, have you ever heard of them? Supposed to completly prevent water lock. Just wondering if it acctually works... looks like it would, but...

If not, I can always just swich over to SRI.

Sweet, I was just worried because none of my friends have never even heard of an abv.. let alone have one. Do you have any idea what the diameter is on the Injen CAI? 2.2L of course?

the filter is covered by the fender lining and lining on the bottom of the bumper. you shouldn't have a problem with it...especially being at stock ride height. I think you'd have to drive through some pretty deep puddles to suck water in through your intake. If its that bad I'd just switch it out real quick to a short ram. I can't freakin wait to get my intake, should be here Tuesday.

Oh yeah, and I've seen the AEM intake on an Ion 2.2 and it looked to be the same size as the Injen.

I got it in polished though...I would've got black but this one was priced at $220 shipped and I wasn't about to pay any more so I said screw it.

I'm pretty sure I'll be okay on the install
I'm throwin this bitch in ASAP, whether is raining, cold, or dark

I saw in a magazine where they used clear tubing plumb the filter out side of a NSX and installed the AEM abv. Then they dunked the filter in a tank of water and reved the car to over 6k RPM. The water didn't even make it half way up the tube.

yeah I heard it, I like how it sounds too...it should really be a nice touch with the ehxaust I already have on.

I have heard that the AEM bypass valve robs a couple HP so I dont know if its worth it.

if worst comes to worst I'll just switch it out, it rains like what...2 days a year anyway.

A guy at my work killed his 5.0 Mustang last year by driving through a puddle.

I'm trying to find out what size it is, but nobody ever responds when I ask.

I don't know how it can rob hp. It looks smooth inside.

Hahaha, I just looked at that link you posted and saw that it was the article I read a few years ago.
