yeah he happy with that but it will be a little faster soon. it still has the ac on it so it coming off. there is 100 lbs of stuff we can take off and hen line lock will go on soon too. that ta is fun to race. bet if we went to firebird it would be low 13s and for being stock it quick down the track.
**** luck man! Did you order the part?
Update: I should be getting the final parts to my engine. New rod bearings, tranny and head guides, and TOB should be in today. I cant wait!!!! Only thing I am worried about is putting the drive chain back on. I took a **** load of pictures but the build book says there is colored links on the chain for the balance shaft to be rotated properly but the only colored links there are is on the timing chain... Anybody have input on what to do about that? or how to install correctly?

From what I remember from friends, you start by putting the chain on the cams and locking it with wire ties and working you way down the rest of the chain

Thats true. It's all about the whole shot at the strip. They make all kinds of things for those cars too
You shoud've marked the old chain when you took it off to match up. The colored links on the timing chain are where to put each link and each tooth in the correct spot for the cams, and balance shafts. You also need to be very presice on this because we have an interferance motor and one tooth off will bend something.

If I would have to guess when it is TDC of #1 there is a certain way the shafts arrows have to be pointing. Just gotta find what that is.
Got some work done on both the cars lately. Tonight we put the black cars bumper on and I got some work done on some projects I've needed to catch up on.
I will def be doing the internals on my engine from this point on. Not taking a chance on someone else. Let me know how your builds go and any tips

Pictures: It seems like a lot but I took about 600-700 pictures of me tearing down my engine. I put them together by days. Basically I took the last picture of the last day and went backwards from there on the rebuild. You basically cant miss a thing. I took a picture of nearly every bolt and connection and a reference to the engine. I think its key.
Since I have all of these pictures that is why I am not worried about the drive chain issue from an earlier post.
Checklist: I suggest making a check list of what you need and have. Post the check list to see if others can give suggestions and find things you missed.
Inspection: I suggest when you buy parts inspect them very well. I always sucks to pull your "new" rod bearings and they look used, now you have to order more.
Build book: Is your friend. I have noticed that some of the bolt sizes and random things like that are incorrect sometimes but it gives all torque specs thus far that I needed. (Make sure you read carefully I almost tightened a bolt to 89 ft lbs instead of in lbs.)
Depending on power goals sleeves are a good idea because the block is more than likely out if you are doing clutch too. Sleeves are extra security. oh they could look this sexy too!

Originally I was not going to do sleeves but talked myself into the extra 1400 so I dont have to open it back up.
You have seen the light! Forget the n/a build
