Welcome
...I'm pretty new to the forum as well. There are a lot of cool guys on here and tons of knowledge to be tossed your way.
I'm curious about your username. Do you have a '71 Malibu? The only reason I ask, is that is one of my two play cars, so I always am interested in checking out pics of what other Chevelle owners have done to theirs.
Got any pics???

Great choice...

I performed all the work myself, including: engine blueprint and build, head & intake port, camshaft/lifter design, differential build, suspension rebuild using Global West components, fabrication of custom motor mounts to allow high-rise intake and air cleaner assembly to clear a stock hood (I like sleepers!), custom transmission mount and driveshaft loop, interior seat recovering, recarpeting, new headliner, MSD ignition wiring, custom dash using Autometer Ultralite gauges, exhaust design and construction, and installation of all new cooling system components. At Speedworld in summer 2004 I took it out to have some fun and went 11.82 @ 116 with 29 X 10.5 slicks. Not bad for a small block that gets 17 MPG in a 3650 lb car (I retain all factory steel), but since the car doesn't have a roll cage, it can't go back to the track again. I have a race car so I don't plan on cutting this one up.
Car is parked until the new garage is built. The 4:10 gear set with the 4L60 transmission makes for a KILLER 1st and 2nd gear, but is not what I ultimately hoped it would be. When the garage is built, the car will come completely apart (I purchased a Painless Wiring system to rewire the entire car) and the gear set will be dropped to a 3:73. I know this is a Cobalt forum, but hopefully good craftsmanship is welcome, even if it's not on my Cobalt...
