New SS owner to Phoenix
New SS owner to Phoenix
Well if all goes according to plan it looks like I'll be moving from Seattle to Phoenix in a couple months. I'm hoping that it all goes through before the weather up in the NW and North Cali changes to snow in the passes...
I fly to Vegas quite a bit for fun, but living in Phoenix it doesn't look too bad to drive...how long does it take, and are there any wide open roads in between to "test out" what the SS can do?
I almost moved there about a year ago as part of a job relocation, but didn't then...now my new job sucks and I can get my old one back again so I told them yes...it's cool because a lot of people I know moved when I originally had the chance so at least I'll know some people already.
The job is in Scottsdale, and it seems most people I know live in north Glendale. Are there any other areas that would not be a hell-commute??? Is Surprise, or Mesa or Tempe too far to drive to Scottsdale (north part).
Coming from Seattle, I'm used to hell traffic so nothing phases me too much!!!
Sorry for the book of a post, but I'm excited that I may move, and have had to keep it secret from everyone I know there until it gets finalized....that's why I can't ask them anything about where to live, etc

Living in Scottsdale and working there would be cool because you are in the center of traffic ... in the case of living in any area outside of Scottsdale however, ... that would be a different story ... it can be hell to get there at around 6-8 am because people slow down for the stupidest reasons so give yourself some space ... also there are ALOT of women (no offense seriously) that drive huge vehicles that they have no idea how to drive so being in a smaller car PLEASE be careful with that SS ... drive home traffic is kinda hectic around 3-6 pm so take it easy cus you WILL slow down alot also DO NOT drive fast in Scottsdale even though there are alot of streets that you can see completely, there is an issue with speed and red light cams EVERYWHERE even if you know where they are you can still get caught
its nice here we can race pretty much year round , we have 2 drag strips to choose from
the weather during the summer is hot , but if you can handle vegas , you can handle it here
traffic isnt to bad , but still sucks , im originally from L.A. and its no where near as bad yet

the commute is not the hell that the commute is in Seattle by any means. thoug, Glendale is a little ways from scottsdale, the traffic on the loop 101 is relatively light most of the time, so the drive wouldn't be bad. Another good thing: the 101 has few big rigs, so your front end actually looks good for a long time!!! Oh yea, Tempe is way worse with traffic than glendale.
I'm from bremerton, so I know the change you'll be going through! ANd yes, we have PLENTY of open space out here to race around in.

I live on the westside of Phoenix and anywhere I need to go takes 35 min. max
its nice to have plenty of freeway around here. So you'll be moving to the eastside, thats nice...everyone tries to make that the "nice" part of town so I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Plenty of money on that side of town, Tempe and Mesa included.

dude have any of you taken a drive past firebird down to maricopa??? HOLY driving fast traffic batman I was going like 70~ish and people were passing me like I had some funny smell that they wanted to get away from 'sniff sniff ... what's that smell?'
Looking foward to having another SS owner here in sunny Az.
Since there seems to be so many of us now, I vote we get together some time in Oct and take a nice spirited drive up to payson or flag for lunch or something of that sort. The Cavy camp would be more than welcome to tag along as well...if you guys can keep up in the twisties that is

I think the pav's would be great. I went to some hot spot in the glendale area and felt naked because I was the only cobalt there and noone had ever seen an SS/SC. Needless to say I drew a huge crowd sportin my black ss/sc. With an open hood and a few rev's while parked for everyone to see and hear, you can tell most were shocked by the new SS. A pav meet would be great as long as we can get some decent parking to line up the cars.
thats what I am worried about the last time I went I had to park hella far away but this was about 8 months ago with my 3000gt that I had at the time I don't wanna leave to early cus traffic man TRAFFIC
Im pretty much down for whenever so long as I know ahead of time when we are gonna meet up. Dude even a cruise night would be cool maybe a drive around town and a stop at maybe hooters for some snacks if everyone puts in on it. We could then get some cool vids of the cars. All grouped together in a huge line omg that would be sweet.
