Does driving a stick in CA suck?
I may be moving to california in a year, going to visit possible destinations in april. irvine/riverside/aliso viejo are the places im thinking about moving and would like some opinions on how driving a stick in those areas are. also if anyone out there is a mechanic how are they paid out there?... im a mechanic in florida and work off a commission based system where i make a flat hourly rate plus a percentage of the money i make for my shop.
All info and input is greatly appreciated.

im a mechanic as well and it depends on the shop...some our hourly...and some are flat rate...and other are hourly plus comission....so it all depends on where u work...although finding a job right now is a bit hard.
well expect some traffic...but nothing like L.A rush traffic....so u should be perfectly fine....
i remember drving from Camp Pendleton up to L.A. in my 300Z and by the time i got home i felt like i had a four hour work out.......even though it only was about 70 miles away it took about 4 hours to get home due to traffic...but thats the L.A. area which u didnt mention u were going to visit...but out here in the S.B./Riverside area...traffic is not bad

Riverside you should be fine.. its not as densely populated
Irvine it depends which way you work, but a lot of wide freeways run there so its ok
and idk about Aliso Viejo
Usually we always brag about our weather too..

also does anyone know if Sears is known as a reputable place to have your car worked on because that is where i currently work and i would be transfering.
last question is does anyone serve in a restaurant and is that a lucrative job.

I would never take my car to sears no offense I just don't see them hiring quality mechanics and serving is pretty decent but you have to have been a server before in order to get a job as a server. Before the recession when I used to serve I'd average 70-100 a night in tips at macaroni grill
