El Mirage: Sept 12th
Thread in progress on our board:
http://gmeternal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3715
------------------------
This is the official post for out 2nd annual El Mirage Dry Lake Bed run.
We will be meeting at 7:00 A.M on Saturday the 12th of September at the Denny’s parking lot off of the Sand Canyon Exit off the 14 Freeway.
The address is:
16401 De Lone
Santa Clarita, CA 91387 US
661-252-9696
The Dry Lake bed is about 1 hours drive away from the San Fernando Valley and about 45 Minutes from the Sand Canyon exit. We will be taking the 14 freeway to the 138 to the 18 and exiting the El Mirage exit.
El Mirage dry lake bed offers everything from excellent photo opportunities, high speed runs and lots of open space. Just an advisement, the dry lake has a thin layer of powder/dust so your car will need a good car wash at the end of the day.
Our plans for the day are to:
Take several still shots of each car and the whole group.
Video tape high speed runs of individual cars and groups of cars.
Video tape drifting, donuts, e-brake slides etc.
Will be setting cones up for a mini autocross event
NOTE:
We will be video taping and taking photos of everything
Bring a full tank of gas by the time you get to Dennys
Bring $15 cash for the day permit
We will have a few pops ups for shade
Bring an ice chest for drinks
*IF ANYONE HAS ANY ORANGE CONES PLEASE BRING IF POSSIBLE*
Here are the videos from last year:
Dirty Pontiacs

El Mirage: Dirty 2008

** I don’t know how much I will be on the boards, so PM me any questions you might have. This is not for everyone. Danny brought out his new G8 last year and his paint was fine. Just don’t go drafting someone at 120 mph and you will be fine.
My cell # 805.907.0039. There isn’t much signal on the lake bed, so if you are interested and running late, give us a call early.
Peace,

Ya, we enter by the restroom / main entrance. Once there, we go straight west all the way. We will pretty much set up camp far far west, the to the south. Once we are there, you cant miss us I’m sure. Plus if you drive around, you’ll see us.
The road is a little bumpy just off the main road coming from the main entrance. Then it gets smoother, less lil rocks then its to the point where its hard packed with a lil baby powder topping LOL. I hear stories of people owning property and a gate to the lake bed on the far north area. Gotta make friends with them some time!
