Insurance In Cali Sucks

hey everyone...hows life?!?

Well if you recall, I posted a thread up earlier (is this the best way to get a cobalt...etc.) I really appreciated the feedback wich made me think about what I want to do. Lots of you said being 16 and owning a SS/SC is asking for death haha. Even though some of you may think that, others, including myself, believe that getting what I want is the best way to decide...as long as Im responsible. So i decided with my parents about the SS/SC and it went over pretty well. I just have to be really careful and responsibal, which I will be b/c I'm not looking into mods and racing. Anywayzzzz what I wanted to say was that getting a Cobalt is gonna be sweet, but it will come with a HUGE PRICE.

I was sick today, so I ditched work and went to the insurance company (AAA). Guess how much insurance is going to cost me?????????????????????????????
$230......right as i heard that I pretty much shat my pants.

But this price does not include all the discounts..only the 3.0 GPA thing and new driver discount.

There are the Air bag discount, the garage discount,anti-theft discount, and multi vehicle discount.

Does the SS/SC come stock with side airbags?

Does the SS/SC come stock with an anti-theft alarm or sumthing?

If so, then my price will drop......but anyways just letting all the other 16 or 17 yr. olds in cali that getting this cobalt will be fun....and hard haha

IM SOOOOOOOOOO CLOSE.....can't wait

Dude, I assume $230/ month. Should you be so lucky! You're 16? I live in NJ, clean record, over 30 and pay that much with the cheapest company I could find! Insurance in Cali isn't so bad in my book!

i used to have esurance, i was paying over 4,000 a year. switched to geico and now i pay about 1800. esurance actually tried RAISING my rates for no reason after 6 months, so i said the hell with them.

Jersey's insurance is one of the highest in the country. I pay 2100 for the year with full coverage on my Cobey (I'm 27, clean record and they think I'm still married. lol) and my sisters 03 Cavy with only liability.. It's like 210 a month.

It is but the car is registered under my mothers name...no choice right now. I'm trying to find a way to either get another car or get the car under my name by getting a loan myself.

ah gotcha... yea that sucks... have you looked into the insurance there? probably 1/3 the price or better.

do you have any credit to get it yourself? I had my father co-sign for my car because I couldn't get it myself. got a credit car, i ONLY use it responsibly, and in less than a year i took my credit from under 600 which blows donkey ***** to 711 which is pretty damn good.

I don't want my mother on my loan...

I have credit, it's just ok. I'm trying to build it up or pay my debts. it's been a struggling year.

I forget what my score was. I think mid 600s.

Nope. But I now have home/car discount for renter's insurance, so it balances back to the same
