A drive down Sunset all the way up to UCLA would be in order as well, HUGE banked turns everywhere. Driving is so much more interesting there, it's not flat like here. Im working on it. lol. Its hard to save up for this move. Ive got quite a bit of bills here, which doesnt leave me with much at the end of the month. Im about to switch to cupOnoodles for food. Worst part is i lost my weekend barjob... puts me down a shitload of cash every week.

I know how it is man, I'm in the same boat, bills suck as well as being unemployed for any amount of time. just live off of eggs, a $4 bag of frozen shredded hashbrowns and ceral. It goes a long way, about a week easy! Don't rule out just going on Craigslist and submitting your resume to places hiring out there. It's a good way to get your foot in the door before you even get out there.

See, im just not exactly sure when ill be able to get out there. I dont want to post my resume, and have someone call me the next week with a job offer. Then i would have to turn it down blah blah.
Plus, ive never really moved solo before. Have always had my parents as a cushion. Living in one of their houses now... but im paying half the mortgage for that house. Its just a nice comfort to know that if i **** up, the fall wont be bad. If i move out there, i know they wont approve and will basically cut my ass off.. so im trying to make sure i get everything perfectly straight so when i do disappear, i wont have to come back.

Im trying to find someone who has a hook up with an airline, so maybe i can get a discounted ticket to fly out there.
Aiming for anytime before June of 2009.

But the chance of a miserable **** up is half the fun At least you can just sleep in your car if worst comes to worst. Definately try to go out and visit where you can for sure though. If I'm out there already, you've got a place to crash if needed provided I'm not living in the golf course maintainence building at work (which is hopefully where I'll be living for the first 3 months).

Then you can get me a job at the GolfCourse also. I used to work at a CountryClub in VA.

I'll see what I can do Once I get my foot back in the door, I might be able to pull some strings. What club did you work at in VA and what job did you do there? I'm calling up to the club tomorrow to talk about getting back in. They're always looking for hard working white boys to help around there I'll keep you updated. How much are you saving for the move and how much do you have saved already? I've made this move twice, so I've gotten pretty good at it

Im just saving what i can. I would like to have 2000 at least before i go for the move. A little hard right now, with the mortgage im paying. I might try to start renting the rest of my rooms out to get that extra cash.

I worked mainly inside the clubhouse, selling the greensfees and golfclubs. Sometimes i would go out and help the cart guys, and the greenskeeper.

2000 is the right number for that. I wouldn't go with any less. It runs out FAST if you don't get a job quick though. Dude, rent out those rooms! Rent them for more than you're paying!

I'm jacking your thread again Sean! I'm moving to LA in Januaury now, the job came through for me and now I'm just working on the housing at the course, which looks like a go. So if all goes well, I'll be out there by the 2nd week of January or so. Is there any meets planned for around that time, I'd like to meet everyone out there, but some drinking will be in order!

well remember guys. minimum rate for a job here is 8.50. and going to up to at least 9 in jan. so you of course are going to making more money out here bc the mortgage is higher here too. just use craigslist to find a place. but once u find a job. get out here. and hit the ground running man

Thanks man It's crazy how waiters out there make 8+hr + tips. They make about 4.50hr here! Craigslist is awesome for housing as well, not to mention you can furnish a place for almost free. People always give away furniture on there! Are you guys having a January meet at all?
