So-cal Discussion Thread

i just wanted to start a thread for all the so-cal guys and gals.

this way we can discuss whats going on, and make sure all of us know about cool stuff that's happening.

i'll start it off by linking this ever so important thread for people who want rear led's for about $18.

I have all my parts for my build and just waiting for my bolck and head to return(Thurs) so I can put it back together. Also I got a KILLER deal on Triflow Stage 2 cams and I jumped on it.....unfortunately they are different sizes and the cam gear angle is different. Maybe JBP gave me 2.4l ones?? I hope when I'm done I'll be a little quicker

The biggest problem you'll have is getting the MAF controller and the injection controller. But I'm sure if you bought that seperately you can get the rest pretty cheap. I wonder if i should make some kits......Naaa I'm still working on the walboro255 upgrade w/return line.

BTW does anyone know which wire is the power wire on the Fans. I'm trying to hook up switches so that I can leave them on (5 minutes or so) while the car is off. (I have 2 red tops in parallel...so power drain is not an issue)

ya i ordered a set of those!

yesterday i was in long beach and had a silver srt4 (we both have one passenger) pull up next to me at a light. i asked him what he had done and he tried to say he was stock i could hear that he wasnt so i said bullshit, come on what do you really have? he said stg2 w/ toys, he asked what i had and i told him stage 1 w/ a smaller s/c pulley. so the light turns green and he takes off pretty quick but i didnt bite because i didnt want to draw to much attention at the intersection, so i put it in 2nd and slowly catch up to him as he slows to about 30, we both hit it (i may have been a split second early) instantly he was at my rearbumper and my passenger said i continued to pull about a half car up to about 80 where we both shut down. i normally dont street race but i couldnt pass this one up, it was the first srt i had a chance at. all in all it was fun and i was very proud of my car!

Stage 2 SRT's are mean as hell, either he didn't know what he was talking about or you got him off guard, IMO and what i've seen, they would take us buy a car or so, especially only w/ stage 1, sorry. Just my opinion, not trying to flame or call BS

also did u make those eyelids out of vinyl? looks really good and thinking about doing it to my car

but i dont just have stage 1, i have a 2.9 pulley also which makes it better than stage 2 because its exactly the same tune and i also have torque managment removed. so that might make up for that car or so... and idk its kinda hard to be a bad driver on a roll race and as loud as srts are you know when hes racing, so idk thats kinda why i put the story in this thread because most the people in socal know me and know that i wouldnt just make up a story.

and thanks i did make them myself, they are painted on... i think the eyelids make the headlights not so bubbly and a lil more sleek.

It started with the clutch, we were racing and the belt slipped and I told her it was the clutch, she told me to get it fixed. I had my exhaust get smushed...I can string it all together....maybe, I just have to talk to her about it.

if all else fails, just try to reason with her tell her that in the long run your gonna have to eventually rebuild the motor since you have been putting so much mileage on the car, but if you build it with these SPECIAL parts , you won't have to ever do it again.

we had a similar discussion tonight...
I told her I was concerned...she knows something is up, when she was here, I got a reduced power light on the 5 north that had us both shitting. The traffic was zooming too, I did my best to get over to the side without getting hit.
She got all pissed like I knew what was going on. I was more concerned with trying to get off the highway without getting plowed into.

btw, I love Incubus, Dig.....its on my myspace page.

i had the same thing happen once but i was lucky enough to be alone on the road, it wouldn't even rev past 3500, and it was blowing some black smoke, so i pulled over and popped the hood. the exhaust was cherry red, and i'm like wtf. so i let it sit for a few minutes and it went back to normal.

I struggled to go 30mph....I kept thinking, give it gas, pull over, give it gas, don't let it stall, pull over....without getting killed.

i'd like to know what the hell causes something like that to happen, i'm thinking it's the pcm reacting to some condition or another, when it happened to me was right when i hit the rev limiter to hard.

Hell, I don't know. I was in third, mid-high boost situation for longer than 'normal' running a porsche 911 carrera, beating him no less. We would play tag, I'd leave him, he'd catch up and then I'd let him go and try to catch him.
