Basically, go turn on your hazards, drive till your trip meter says 0.2, and tell me if you can tell your lights are flashing...this has to be done during the daylight, as it will clearly be visible during the night
Then go prove this to the judge
I agree with the no tinted tail light laws. Like on the Cobalt, if you cover them with tint you dramatically reduce their visibility. Because the reflectors are integrated into the tails, if you were to get into an accident and lost power to the lights someone driving up might not see you in time. Or because all tint reduces light output you have a greater chance of being rear-ended in poor visibility conditions. And if that happens and it's noted you illegally tinted your lights you might be held criminally and civilly liable. It's one thing to modify a car for appearance reasons because you like how it looks, but when it reduce safety I think that should take precedence over appearance.
Some cars do have partially tinted or shaded assemblies from the factory but the material/design does not cover the reflectors and the actual red material the light passes through in the braking section of the lamp is not covered. You are breaking the law and I would pick up a set of used lights or trade with someone if it were me.

i agree on the tails mac u need to change but i dnt get the smog emission ticket. he should have wrote u for exhaust being too loud he didnt even pop ur hood. Maybe he saw ur wideband and new what it was and new it was tapped into the cat?
that is what I love about Alabama, running 20% tint(35% is legal tint), projector head lights, and smoked tail lights.......haven't been pulled over yet, in fact I had a cop compliment my car telling me "i've never seen a Cobalt quite like that one" when I feeling up with gas one day...
As far as performance parts, we have no smog control, as long as its got mufflers, its good to go, and even if it doesn't, the city cops won't mess with you(state patrol will though)
