Sounds pretty good bro. That's pretty much the same cost and everything that I got mine for except I wasn't backwards in my old car, but I had 2 more years of paying on it then you did. Have fun with it and enjoy the power. And hey, now you can proudly sport those SS badges without anyone saying anything

This was my first manual car too. It takes a while to get used to, this car is pretty touchy. It would help if someone you knew who can drive one could ride with you and tell you what you are doing wrong. Let's put it this way, if it feels smooth, you are doing it right. Slipping the clutch for too long to make it smooth is bad. As a tip, when going from first to second, let the rpms cut by nearly half. When going second to third, about a third. It steps down each gear from there. I usually shift at 3k, and it makes it easier to feel the car when shifting and it won't bog as much. Good luck with it. A lot of us have learned on this car. You just gotta be patient with it. Don't worry about hurting it, it's stronger than you think. Just save the money now for another clutch, might as well be ready, it's gonna happen eventually, even sooner since it's your first one. The best feeling though is that if you can get this car down, you can drive anything.

Cool so when do you think ill have to replace it? Its already got 19000 miles on it. Also is it normal to hear like a small thump or pop when first puttin it in like 2nd or 3rd? Man I hope im doing it ok, ive noticed ill shift into 2nd at 3000 revs and match it at 2000 when i release the clutch its just the car doesnt feel smoth when i first take off in 1st. It just seems like i cant get the clutch to gas ratio right, feels like a little jerking motion. Hey i know this will be hard to describe but what does burning clutch smell like?
Oh, and once you get used to it, get either a tune or GM stage 1. You will be glad you did.

Idk when you'll have to replace it honestly, depends on your driving. I've heard of them being replaced as low as 10k miles, but that's due to abuse and poor driving. I'm just saying have it ready just in case so you never are stuck without a car and no spare money to replace it. Burning clutch actually smells a lot like burning rubber. Not quite but it's close. If for that popping sound it's when shifting and not actually moving, if it sounds like a metallic tap, that's just the tranny changing gears. I think. Idk it's hard to tell just by a description. Somebody else needs to back me up here.
