FS: Huge bench power supply
FS: Huge bench power supply
For sale is my custom made bench power supply.
It's composed of 10 seperate ATX computer power supplies. The ten combined supplies output 160 amps at 12 volts.
The output power is VERY stable since these supplies were originally designed for computers.
I have run two 1200w car amplifiers on this supply at full crank for several hours with no problems.
The supplies have full overcurrent protection and surge protection. Accidentally short circuit the leads? No problem. The supplies can detect a short circuit and automatically shut down.
These will run anything that you can put in a car, I haven't tested it, but it should be able to jump start a car without any problems (i don't know if they will think it's a short circuit or not)
If you are a show-goer with a lot of accessories like large system, this supply is perfect for you, hook it up and don't worry about running down your battery or having to keep the car running.
The power supply has bolts with large washers so it can be easily connected to anything you need it for.

This cost me ~$200 to make so I'm gonna ask $100 +ship.
I challenge you to find a stable 12v supply that can output ~160 amps for under $300

Think of it as a plugin battery for your car... You would hook your battery terminals up to this instead of the car battery if you were going to have prolonged usage of your car audio equipment at a show for example.
Yeah, that, or let's say you need to test a very large car audio amplifier but you don't feel like hooking it up to your car.
Wire it up to the power supply and suddenly you have all the juice you need
thats crazy..
i have some questions just out of interest
did you hook up the 3.3v, 5v, and 12v together on the positive side? negative side?
what are the wattage ratings of each? efficiency ratings of each?
great idea, btw

They have ~1-2inches of slack so they can be revised and tapped into.
The ground is common for all voltages.
If someone were to revise my wiring and extend the 3.3 and 5 volt wires the entire unit would be capable of 280amps at 3.3v and 360 amps at 5v
Nope, you heard wrong. My car runs fine.
