$500... damn. If I hadn't just bought my Sony. I would be all over this.

Lemme see if I can sell my Sony DSLR on eBay.

If you'll take $400, I'll transfer the funds now. I don't have an extra Hundred though.

Well, i am interested in the body. I currently have a old nikon from the late 70's and would really like to go Digital. Got a few real nice lenses for it though. Interested in a macbook for trade at all? ha.

Yeah, they are. the D40s lens (the 18-55mm) is VR in all the D40 "kits" are non-VR, however personally I don't see a need for the VR function with these two lenses, unless you're zooming in all the way with the 200mm (whcih you shouln't do because it kills quality a bit). That's just my 2c.

I could use a computer...

As for your old lenses they will NOT work on this body. The ONLY body that they will work on (and I've called Nikon corp. to ask this) is the D80.

Not quite true. Those late-70s lenses will work on all Nikon DSLRs, to some degree. They're not autofocus (obviously), and they won't meter on those two plus the D70, D80 and D90. They will meter on the D2, D3, D300, etc.

Some guys use even older lenses on their D40s - the 1959-1977 "non AI" lenses. If you know how to shoot without a light meter (or have a handheld) the old lenses work just fine.
