I have the same SCT xcal 3, had it on craigslist and forums from $250, $200, $150, $100 and couldnt even get that because you have to pay at least $150-$200 for a retune people just wanna buy it new.

The screen is now busted on mine, gotta send it back for a replace for $80 but its not worth it because I dont have a car to use it on now.

 

I'll let some people know around me, I work at a ford dealer and people ask if we sell them all the time.

Ive never understood the SCT, I would like to be able to write my own tunes, if I could do that, I would be all over this.

 

Well the nice thing is its free to have them email you a tune for your car to load on to it just like the trifecta tuner cable is for our cars

you can edit the tune....well sorta

Like on my Escape I can change the trans shift points etc. It is just cumbersome. As bred said, ford people like these. I'll have to sell mine when the escape gets traded and yup, you are lucky to get $150 for a used one. Costs $150 to get reconfigured to another vin.

Yes you just have to download the tune off SCT site. Which is free I think(99.9% positive)

I still have a xcal 3 and would love to be able to use it on my 07

 

They are for almost every make. But it is slightly limited. It is more of a canned tuner. Like HPT, they make for more than just chevy.....

 

Yeah so basically you write a tune up and download it to the handheld tuner then load it to the car. It is limited but with just about any "computer" you can find a way around certain things. BUMP
