Go with the ipod, I've had the zune before and returned it. Ya the screed is a little bigger but the battery life is about half that of the ipod. I have the Ipod touch and can go a whole week without charging it!

Did you have the 1st or 2nd gen? I have a 80g (2nd gen) and I love it, tho I wish the battery lasted a little longer but its not THAT bad. They are built alot better than the ipod imo, I have dropped this thing I dont know how many times with no case or anything to protect it and it doesnt have a scrach on it! The Zune is only a little bit thicker and longer than the current ipod but its not that big a deal to me, I love it. Also, the software that comes with the zune is very easy to use, the only thing that sucks is it only comes with a usb sync cable to charge it, no wall charger included. Best of luck with whatever you get.

 

Several of my Soldiers have these in Afghanistan and Iraq. No problems, the otterbox is waterproof, sandproof, etc. I used one for my iPod with no problems then or now (still using it to this day), and that was through more then one deployment.

 

The otterbox is impressive, and a not available for the Zune that I know of.

if ur still in need i have a zune with dock av cable wallcharger 2 usb cords and a set of headphones 130+shipping its not in greatest condition but it still works great

 

also, I have a 30 GB zune with headphones, FM transmitter, booklets, wall charger, USB cable, pretty much everything you need. Also in great condition.
