Well if the box had his name on it, I am surprised they released it to his wife. The person who its being shipping to, should call. This way you can argue the fact that it wasn't supposed to be released to anyone but him. At this point he would have to try to get his money from the insurance claim, we are back ordered on this hoods for months.
WARNING: be sure all edges clear when opening and closing after ALL adjustments. This is why I DO NOT recommend installing by yourself. If you want to adjust the back of the hood down to lign up with the fenders, you have to loosen (DO NOT REMOVE, just loosen) the bolt that holds the bracket in place. There is not much adjustment, but you can minimize the gap. To move the back of the hood side to side, loosen the 4 (2 on each side) bolts that hold the back of the hood on (the 4 bolts that require the fender washers I mentioned) That is the benefit of the smaller bolts, they allow a wider range of adjustment. To adjust the front of the hood loosen the 3 bolts that hold the hood latch in place. Again, not much adjustment available but you should have some.

make sure you still call UPS, maybe they can give you some partial money back and you can possibly still keep the hood.

No, just tell them that this should have been only authorized to be released to me. I wasn't able to inspect it because of xyz reason and when I got home and opened up the package the hood was damaged. They will ask you for pics. Just keep your fingers crossed, its hard to get money out of UPS once you've signed off on the package.
