Great. Thanks for the feedback. Since your install tips are my words to you, I'm going to copy them to start my instructions sheet. I have been planning to do a write-up but honestly have not had the chance. We have Cobalt parts all over the shop right now. And more to make tomorrow.

The first time we installed the boost tubing we did not remove the bumper. Next time was with the bumper off. I personally don't think it was much easier. Maybe a little, but pulling the bumper adds time. You really need to be able to get under the car to make life easier. One trick Daniel showed us, since he is a GM Tech, was to tighten the throttle body silicone clamp by going straight through the front. If you look, the bolt is in clear view.

Go ahead and count me in, if I am not to late. When do we have to pay by? I am also wanting to put a BOV flange. I just don't know which one yet. I am thinking HKS Super Sequential Blow Off Valve in black, anyone have any suggestions? I also want to know if there is a way to block it off until I get the power upgrades in the future that will require a BOV.

What are the changes that you need to make?

 

If your cobalt was made prior to May 08 (near as we can tell), the charge piping for the cold side was slightly shorter than what the ss/tc models made after May 08 have...therefore there are some slight fitment issues... It looks like the cold air piping was changed by about 3/4 to 1"...may not sound like a lot, but the alignment is crucial due to the air compressor... Dan is fixing the situation..hopefully I will be able to check the alignment on a modified cold side by the end of next week... Dan will keep you guys posted... The good thing about this find is that this is proof that this design is tailored to the car exactly... I have read about other people having fitment issues with their aftermarket piping, but they have had to modify the piping themselves.... In this case Dan is taking care of us and standing behind his product... Bottom line - hang in there... I am probably more anxious than most as I have had my order placed since January

As we are the manufacturer, we only have ourselves to rely on. Other companies may only have a couple opportunities to design and test fit parts. Unfortunately with many other companies, one they have spent the original time and money to design a new part and set-up fr production, they move on; problems or not. This is especially true for companies who have other manufacturers build their parts. If those manufacturers are outside the United States, there is close to no hope of seeing a correction made. Hence the issue being left to the retail customer to figure out.

As stated above, we will stand behind our products, make any and all required changes to provide the best fitting products available anywhere. Before we released our own boost tubing we were aware of other companies boost tubing not fitting correctly. We asumed it was due to quality control issues. Never did I imagine GM had actually changed the configuration. It's just sad to see we are the only manufacturer who has taken the time to research the allignment issue and change our design accordingly.

I wonder if the cold side piping was made longer to help to keep it from blowing off? Mine was made 7/31/08 and I have not had an issue with it (yet, crosses fingers). Anyway, thanks Dan for addressing the issue for the community.

 

Supposedly GM identified a rubbing issue between the cold side tubing and another component, bolt, etc. I have not seen the service bulletin yet to be positive. They may have added length to allow the stock tube to clear better and changed the rotation slightly for the same reason. Regardless, we will be comparing two factory cold side pipes this week; one from the car we just did the install on Friday and the other from the original car we used for the original product development. I'll let you all know what the results are...

If your piping was already fit onto the car what would it matter if they are changing the OEM equipment?

 

Because the tubing which fit one car, didn't fit two others which were both built the same month. I know what you're saying. If it were just the boost tube that changed, it shouldn't matter. I agree. So there must be something else as well. I'm wondering if the intercooler mounting was also changed a bit.

 

i see so you feel they changed more then just the piping? I assume this matter will be holding up production?

Again, mine was made 7/31/08 and the radiator support bracket bolt & fan shroud were rubbing the charge piping on the cold side. I presume I might have the longer setup from what you posted.
