Yes, it is functional.
I'm going by memory on the weight savings but I seem to remember the stock hood weighs about 35lbs and our fiberglass version weighs about 18-20 or so...if it's a huge deal, I can find out for you. Take into account, it is not a single skin hood as you'd see on a race car, those are too flimsy for street use. It is a two skin hood. There is a top skin and an underside skin just like the factory hood.
I'm not sure how many they're overstocked on but I'm guessing the sale should last through November but who knows, sometimes things go in bunches. We'll sell none for a week, then 3 in half a day. Its hard to guess how long they'll last for sure.
It has almost exactly the same clearances over the top of the engine as a stock hood so if your turbo piping fits under your stock hood, it should be ok (give or take a half inch or so). The restrictions for clearance are where the heat extractor is and that is between the engine and radiator support area.
