TWM Performance Cobalt SS/SC Short Shifter!

Hi everyone,

TWM Performance is proud to introduce our brand new short shifter for the 2005 and up Cobalt SS/SC!

Owners of Cobalt SS/SC can now enjoy shorter and much more precise shifting with the most aggressive and shortest shifter available on the market. The TWM short shifter offers the best shift feel and the ultimate throw reduction people have been waiting for, while keeping the reverse lockout mechanism.

Here are the complete specs of this new short shifter:

-33% throw reduction
-1” height reduction
-full reverse lockout compatibility
-CNC machined shifter ball and shaft from high strength steel
-CNC machined aluminum reverse lockout
-delrin bushings and o-rings for smooth operation
-TIG welded for the ultimate in durability

Every step was taken during the development of this part to obtain the biggest throw and height reduction possible while keeping the reverse lockout mechanism. The TWM short shifter for the SS/SC also has a solution for many issues people have reported about other short shifters currently available on the market.

The TWM short shifter comes standard with a M1 Abrams RL aluminium shift knob. The shift knob can also be upgraded to a weighted stainless steel M1 Abrams RL in one of 5 unique finishes with an additional $25 saving!

The TWM short shifter is also available with optional aluminum base bushings for a more solid contact point between the shift assembly and the car. These bushings give an even more precise and solid shift feeling. The retail price for the base bushings alone is $24.95, however during the pre-order period they can be added for only $14.95.

TWM is offering a special pre-order price for the SS/SC short shifter from now until September 18th, of $174.95 for the short shifter and $189.95 for the short shifter with base bushings!

Here is the link to place your order now:

Cobalt SS/SC TWM Short Shifter Pre-Order

The normal retail price of this short shifter is $199.95 and $219.90 for the short shifter with base bushings, prices will go back to retail after September 18th.

Please Note that all pre-orders will ship on September 18th 2008.

The way our shopping cart is configured, you can use only one discount code when you place your order. The 10% military discount code would be the best in this case. I just sent you a pm regarding this.

Bump for the weekend, keep the orders coming!

This looks just like a Hurst. What is the difference between this and the Hurst. You are definitley more expensive.

it's shorter. and there are optional bushings, as well as what appears to be a smoother reverse lockout system.

Here is what we posted when we first released the pictures of the Cobalt SS/SC short shifter:

We have read the feedback about the downsides of the short shifters currently on the market for the Cobalt SS/SC and the TWM short shifter’s unique design has a solution for the issues reported.

Our short shifter resolves the following issues with the current shifters on the market:

-Some have reported they would like a greater height reduction, the TWM short shifter sits lower than others currently available.

-The main pivot ball on other short shifters has been reported to come loose since it is held with set screws. The TWM main pivot ball can not come loose.

-A “clicking” noise and rough movement of the reverse lock mechanism from loose tolerances and aluminum sliding on steel. Our reverse lock mechanism is machined with very tight tolerances and is completely isolated from the shaft for very smooth movement.

-The vague 5th gear some have reported is not an issue with the TWM short shifter.

-A slight ticking noise from the small aluminium pivot ball making direct contact with the L shaped side arm. The TWM has no such aluminum on steel contact.

-Sharp edges on the reverse lock, ours are machined and de-burred very well to avoid premature wear of the shift assembly and for a cleaner more finished look.

In addition, this is the most agressive short shifter available on the market for the SS/SC, both in throw and height reduction.

Thanks,

Frank

How is the ball attached then? Is it all one piece or what. A pic of that would be nice to see.

The main pivot ball is TIG welded to the shifter shaft, as are all our short shifters with the same kind of design. This is the best solution for solidity and durability.

Thanks!

Bump!

We finished the installation of the final production version of the short shifter on our test car today, I must say this is an amazing improvement over the stock unit, the shifts are short, precise, absolutely no vague 5th gear and the reverse lock mechanism is very smooth with no annoying clicking or grinding noise.

Everything will be ready to ship on September 18th, the shifters are going to the finisher next week and we are currently finishing the shift knobs. The Cobalt SS/SC short shifter will feature the aluminum M1 Abrams RL with the 5 speed pattern engraved, here are some pictures of it in the car.

Still time to pre-order yours!

Have a nice weekend everyone,

Frank

Thanks guys, overall the installation is very straight forward, but we feel that a complete installation manual is important for this part and detailed pictures are a must!

It's still time to get your pre-order in, everything is shipping on thursday.

Thanks,

Frank
