4 lug to 5 lug conversion

Ok so here is my question and in theory it sounds good but couldn't you to do this swap just buy brand new hubs for the same year ss and put them on the car to convert it and buy the rotars to swap the brakes as well. I seen kits on eBay and really the only difference is the hub and rotars but for the back a custom braket for the calipers would have to be made. Is this a possibility?

I understand that I used to work at discount tire and I know we do. So that leads me to this question is it a possibility to swap the whole front hub and brake assembly to the rearend on my car and just get a big brake kit for the front then?

The only 5 lug set-up you should convert to would be the 5x114 set-up offered by Powell Motorsports. Otherwise keep the 4x100's and just upgrade the brakes, also offered by Powell but still in development stage.

Wait, are you asking if you can puttee front brakes of an ss on the back of your car? I'm gonna say no. If you want bigger fronts and disc rear then hit up Powell like said earlier.

Not really the greatest idea. You can mount front hubs on the rear but you'd have to custom make adapters. Also having fronts on the rear could drastically alter the front/rear brake bias making the car unsafe even with a big brake kit.

ok well here is my whole theory behind this. What I want to do is just swap front hubs without abs or with depending weather my car has abs or not to the back and the rotars. Then buy stock calipers from a ss so they have the parking brake line and have a braket made to hold the calipers also get the master cylinder form a ss to make this work. Is this a possibility?

Powell motor sports, hit them up, they are working on a kit for rear disk swap. Then do. What I'm gonna end up doing, take the stock lsj rotors to a good machine shop and get them drilled for 4x100 and use stock lsj fronts. You have to have at least 16 inch wheels tho.

Like I said before not the best idea, at least half of it. Front hubs on the rear has been done but its really a "race only" need. To do that you'd need custom adapters. Thats loads of mock-up, measurements, and machine work.

As for the brakes, you want bigger brakes all the way around? Thats fine but using a front system on the rear isnt an intelligent option. You'd need again tons of mock-up, measurement, and machine work. Powell Race Shop is working on a rear drum to disk and front system conversions using factory parts. It would be far easier and SAFER to use a factory system where its intended from the start. I dont know the details but you may have a choice between either LSJ or LNF systems.

It does not matter if the car is abs equipt or not with Powells adaption because you retain your factory original hubs. Master cylinders are the same from abs to non-abs and bace model to SS/SC. The only difference is automatic cars use a different reservoir. LNF cars may be different but I havent looked into it.

Hey been awhile sorry started a new job. Anyways these are just brackets to hold the calipers right?
If so that leads me to the question. Can I use the Rear calipers from either ss model?

The easiest option is to just have your hubs redrilled.

Talk to Powell Race Parts. They have the kits and if they dont have what you want they can pretty much flat out make it for you. May want to give them a little while to respond as well. As I recall they are on vacation @ the moment.
