5 Lug 2.2 brake upgrade woes

So after a little research I have found out that my 2LT with a 5x110 bolt pattern has different sized rotors than all the other models. 4 lug cobalts have a 10.1 inch rotor and the SS has 11.7 and 12.7 inch rotors.

Mine has 11" rotors.

So for the knowledgable about brakes.

Can I upgrade to aftermarket rotors meant for the SS? Will my caliper work with that size?

I don't even know if my calliper is different, could somebody find a part number so I can know which brake pads work with my car?

Am I screwed and have to save up for a big brake kit? (if THAT even works with my car! )

**** this sucks.

just get the rotors and calipers from an SS, not big brake kits, just replacements from CED. YOu will be fine.

When you change to larger diameter rotors you have to be sure the calipers are moved away from the center of the hub to accomidate the extra diameter. If you use thicker rotors you have to be sure the calipers, with new pads, will be wide enough to fit over the extra width. Therefore it is always a great idea to go with a kit or get all the associated parts that go on whatever model you will be using the rotors from. Rotors, calipers and brackets.

How would I move the calipers away from the center of the hub? (and lets assume my calipers are wide enough for these new rotors for this hypothetical question)

I edited my original post. the caliper brackets would be what determines the caliper's distance from the center of the hub.

So I'm probably better off just buying the SS calipers then?

This is all the SS/SC front brake stuff:

Rotors: part #25797350 $159.02 retail, $79.51 cost each
Calipers: part #22720704 = right $228.96 retail, 114.48 cost each
part #22720705 = left
Brackets: part #22720702 = right $85.75 retail, $48.88 cost each
part #22720703 = left

Cost is the price the dealer pays GM. I'm sure that as umrdyldo stated, you could get this stuff from CED cheaper than retail.

Ok, I stand corrected. CED doesn't list calipers or brackets or STOCK rotors for cobalts. They only show slotted/drilled rotors and some pads......

Fallen I was able to get all four calipers and brackets for an SS delivered for less than 60$ off ebay. That I think would be your best bet.
