Aftermarket Calipers?
Aftermarket Calipers?
Has anyone upgraded to aftermarket calipers only? Does Wilwood, Brembo, BAER, or any other company make calipers that will take the place of the stock calipers and outperform them? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

im with you on that. i just got some powerslot slotted rotors and want to stop faster!
Wilwood kit, http://www.cobalt-addiction.com/handling.htm there you go man. $700, not bad IMO. 12.8 rotors and 4 piston calipers. Should stop pretty damn close with the SS/TC with those on there.

Will do.

The question is all bs as he wants to improve clamping force by changing just the Caliper r and it doesnt work that way. What i did, to space out the stock caliper and install a 311 mm PFC floating rotor and hat improves cooling and clamping force because it moves the caliper outboard on a larger rotor. This upgrade is 900 bucks. No good for this guy
You cant just go bolt stuff up and expect it to work using stock rotors all for a $1.98. Upgrading to the TC caliper and rotor with new wheels or wheel spacers is not a bad idea at all but you will still pay 800-1200 bucks minium. No good for this guy.

Noyou cant, because it needs a larger rotor, and this guy just wants to change the caliper. the fact is the stock caliper single piston heavy etc is a very good piece. And there is a a Camaro caliper you can use off the new Camaro that they use in Koni but they change the rotor and he doesnt want to do that.

You're basically just doing a normal caliper/rotor replacement? And for the price of a good set of rotors and pads...you're almost halfway there, so might as well go big or go home at that point

Thanks for the words of wisdom! lol. I am aware that going to a larger rotor will do more for stopping power, but I was under the impression that the caliper had something to do with brake performance as well. The Wilwood kit on Ebay and Cobaltaddiction.com have wilwood calipers only from what I've heard. The rotors are made by someone else. I would buy one of those kits, but I am unsure of the rotor quality/longevity. I'm also not sure I want to add more rotating mass with larger, thicker all-steel rotors. Honestly, the biggest reason I would go to aftermarket calipers only would be for looks, but I'm sure they would perform as well or better than the stockers also.
