Air ride kit, is it worth it??

So a buddy of mine has a bran new digital air ride kit for a Cobalt that he never put on his cobalt because he sold it b4 he could put it on. hes asking $1500 for it. Im really thinking about getting this for my cobalt... The main reason i want to get air ride is because a month ago i got in trouble for street racing and im thinking that if i have air ride ill be less apt to race. lol! but if i want to race at the strip, i can pump the back all the way up and lower the front down. What do you guys think??

It depends on the kit/manufacturer.

If it's AIM Industries/Chassis Tech, I'd stay away...

If it's EasyStreet or Air Ride Tech, I'd go for it...

I heard air ride adds a lot of weight so you probably dont want to race even if you can adjust the height the weight is still there and I heard they fail or break often but again its what I heard I dont know for fact it would be awsome for show though.

no sure on the exact reason. I`m sure someone will chime in on why.

I would guess its becuase of the chance that if one air bag blows when racing at 80+ that your car would not fair well.. but i really dont kno. just kno the rule.

Its kinda hard for a plain old coilspring or coilover to fail.

Bags on a balt are good for certain things, depends on how you drive it iguess. If you drive it like you stole all the time, then stay away, but if you just occasionally hammer on it then it shouldn't be a problem... I have them and love them, the digital system is great, like jason said if it easystreet go for it. As for whomevwer said it added weight, my ENTIRE air ride lit came inh a box that weighed less that 60lb, total. Not too bad, that included the struts, shocks, air management, valves, tank compressor, the works.

drag bags are used in conjunction with traditional springs therefore eliminating the risk of no suspension load on a wheel at any given time.

Yeah, if you like to race, which I dont, then I'd go coilovers. Another one of my friends has them & they're pretty awesome...no complaints from him... Guess that's why i'm all about air! lol
