Allignment on lowered car
I just got my sportlines installed on my SS today, looks great, no wierd noises, but the allignment is off a bit. Now i was wondering, is there any added difficulty doing a wheel allignment on a lowered car?
Theres a new shop right beside the place that installed my springs, has all brand new equipment, but not sure how many lowered cars they deal with. So im wondering if most allignment shops can allign a lowered car without issue. |
Nothing different. Hopefully he has a "pit" style allignment area otherwise the car may not be able to get on the machine.
|
Hopefully lol, thanks for the info, im stopping there tomorow on my lunch break so they can see the car and book and appointment

One question, Is it normal for one side to be slightly lower then the other when they are first put in? Drivers side rear is slightly lower then the passenger rear. Only driven 10km since they were put in yesterday
|
i would drive it about 100miles before you have it aligned. The springs need to settle some.
|
agreed withs ls1 plus thee going to just lokk at the same stuff as if it werent lowered camber and stuff
|
drive about 100miles to break them in some more, to let the springs settle abit more
i just got my car lowered too on sportlines i got it aligned to fix the toe in that happened with lowering the car the car pulled slightly to the right after, so i took it back and they said it was something with my tires. haha but its only when i let go of the wheel sometimes, i just live with it haha i just ordered steering rack spacers, to rise the steering rack back to balanced level since after the drop EDIT: you guys beat me to it haha |
if the top spring plate is notput back correctly, tab in, the ride height wont be the same side to side and the car will pull one way or the other....faulty installation is my bet assuming correct tire pressures alignment etc....
|
my advise for putting it on a alignment rack is take 2 small 2x4's and drive on those before u drive up the ramp thats what we have to do at my buddys shop so we dont dick up any plastics

drive like they said 100 or more miles before you go get it done, and youll have no problems getting on any of the alignment machines. mines on h&rs and made it on just fine

Hopefully the shop near you can do an alignment. The only shops i came across that would align lowered vehicles were Kal Tire (took it to them twice and they still couldn't tell me what the problem was) and Dales (who figured it out right away) Good luck. |
The place in taking it too specializes in doing lowering and alligning lowered vehicles and can correct any installation issues made by other shops
|
then what are you worried about my friend they got it covered just wait a day or to put a few miles on it so the springs settle and then get the alignment and your golden
|
It's not getting done till Saturday so got all week to drive it, I know it needs one, it pulls to the right now. Never done suspension mods to my cars before so I'm just nervous that the shop fucked something up
|
ahah icic well thats why i do my own work man, i trust know onw but me or my x wife and my good frined curt to work on my car
|
thats why i do as much of the work i can on my car as well. suspension is easy, i knocked mine out in 45 minutes
|
Yea I don't trust myself yet lol, hoping the shop doesn't find ne thing else wrong
so I don't pay for the other shops mistakes |

pics of car lowered? with sportlines |
i ordered my rack spacers and im on sportlines
mine only started to pull to the right after the alignment so the install was flawless but like i said b4 its better now as they checked out the alignment again |
My car used to do the vibration thingy, mainly when accelerating and making a turn, after I lowered it. It also made some weird "clunk" noises when you'd turn the wheel in a stopped position.
All of the noises and vibrations went away recently, but I've been lowered for over a year now. Maybe all of the shit finally settled, who knows. That or I'm going deaf. |
Mine has no wierd noises or vibrations, just sits higher on one side and needs an allignment
|
qwikredline can better explain why rack spacers are a good idea
