Brake help

In my quest for ultimate power, I've completely over looked my brakes, which haven't been changed in almost 9000 miles I noticed about a week ago that my squeeking brakes were getting louder (had been squeekin since October). Then in a period of about 2 days it got really loud, like fingers on a chalk board, and when I hit the brakes getting off the freeway or slowing down from high speed (60+ mph) the car pulls to the left. Today I looked at my brakes and theres pretty much no pad left, and the rotors have DEEP grooves in them. Whats the best brakes to get that will last for a long time OR the cheapest. I'm not getting new rotors simply because I can't afford new ones, frankly I don't give a **** HOW GOOD my car stops, I just care IF it can stop. I've heard either the red or green stuff pads are good, but I don't know how much they cost. What other pads are out there??? Sorry if its a noob question, I spend all my time in the 2.0L performance section

I am sorry, but to replace pads without changing rotors that badly grooved is definitely not smart. It will greatly reduce pad life and effectiveness. Not to mention that the rotors will warp more easily since they have a lot less material. Rotors can be purchased pretty cheaply as well as pads.

Rotors + Pads = More than I can afford
Pads only = I can afford them

Well, don't drive that way for too long then. Get rotors ASAP after you get pads.

The green stuff is about $60 for rear and $73 for front. http://www.gravanatuning.com/applica...2.0.aspx?cat=3

****!!! Are you serious!?!? ****! Nevermind, I can't afford pads! I didn't think I'd be spending $140 for pads!!! Then rotors will be like $100,000,000!!! There goes my 2007 "Go Fast" budget

Yeah, but lottery is so much easier

Well, you can look at the brakes as being a mod. Get better rotors and pads to put more stop to go with the GO!

Edit: Yeah, my brakes are probably only lasting 1/4 to 1/2 as long as they should!

Seriously though, is there any long term damage possible if I keep drivin on these used up brakes? Maybe til after Christmas, I asked my parents for brake pads, but I don't know if they'll get them.

Depends on how worn they actually are. Take pics if you can. Preferably with the wheels off. And make sure the pic shows the pad thickness.

If you wear through the pads and the pad backing plates, you could potentially wear into the caliper piston itself which is VERY BAD!

I'm pretty sure there is MAYBE some pad material left, if not then its only been on the backing plate for a couple days.

Then definitely change pads ASAP. Ask for your gift early, if possible

I think I'm just gonna rig up the e-brake with a metal rod, so when ever I need to slow down I'll just pull the e-brake which will bring a large metal rod down and scrape on the ground. The friction should be enough to slow me down. Plus at night it would look AWESOME!!!

Also cut a hole in the floor so you can give your car an extra jump off of the line.

Brakes are the most over looked thing. Just remember if you can go fast you need to be able to slow it down. If your rotors are grindng already I have seen people drive like that till a piece rotor turns into a two piece rotor and also seen them run them down so bad there was no pad left and the rotor was grinding on the caliper piston. Not good and very not safe.

Whats worse? A ruined brake caliper, or a melted piston? I NEED SCANNING EQUIPMENT! NOT BRAKES!!!!
