Brake upgrade???

So... i killed my loaded beam axle last night on the ice. (played to hard). I already have stock replacement parts and i'm going to replace it my self. i figured since i've already got it torn apart i want to go ahead and up grade it from drum brakes to pads. is this possible, and if so how difficult.

i've got the know how. if i just get a used axle with the rotors and calipers already on it, will it hook right up to the existing brake lines and wheelspeed sensor for the abs.

It will likely need to have the soft lines for the discs, you will need new ebrake cables, and the speed sensors just need to match your year and model range.

yeah everything will bolt up. you need to make sure the lug patterns the same, you WILL need different brake lines, the brake line retainers, possibly calipers(unless the beam comes with um), e brake cables, and as said above the abs stuff needs to the same year and such.

I saw a guy on fb do a rear brake swap on his base and im pretty sure he used the same ones from his drums. Im doing/did the same thing as you OP. I swapped in an fe5 rear subframe and am going to discs, but im using the ebrake lines that came with the calipers. ZZP sells stainless brake lines for the lsj as a 6 piece set, and thats what im using, they work great.

As for the ABS, what year is your car? I know my 07 LS did not come with abs so i just cut the WSS off of the hubs. If you need a rear abs wiring harness though, I have one.

I have LSJ wheel hubs if you plan to go to a 5 lug swap.
